In compliance with New York State Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role in Illinois is between $175,000-260,000. This range does not include discretionary bonus or other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with this job. Several factors are considered when determining a candidate's compensation. Please note that the salary range listed for this position is based on the level of experience outlined in the job description. If a candidate's experience differs from the requirements, the salary may be adjusted accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis & Operational Assessments: Lead the preparation of comprehensive financial analyses and operational assessments for distressed businesses, identifying critical issues and crafting actionable solutions to drive recovery.
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Prepare and manage 13-week cash flow projections, liquidity forecasts, and integrated financial statements, ensuring financial stability during periods of distress.
- Business Recovery Plans & Performance Improvement: Develop business recovery plans and performance improvement strategies tailored to individual client needs, focused on improving profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
- Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including C-level executives, attorneys, M&A advisors, and lenders. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing communications and expectations at all levels.
- Engagement Management: Oversee engagements, ensuring project milestones are met while delivering high-quality results. Maintain client relationships through consistent updates, reporting, and active problem-solving.
- Restructuring & Bankruptcy Expertise: Provide expert guidance on Chapter 11 reorganization, cash management strategies, and financing solutions, leveraging a deep understanding of corporate bankruptcy processes and procedures.
- Crisis Management & Recovery Leadership: Manage workout processes, including cash flow crisis management and working capital optimization, ensuring businesses recover from financial distress effectively.
- Due Diligence & Strategic Alternatives: Oversee due diligence processes, including vetting business plans, assessing financial health, and developing strategic alternatives to stabilize or restructure businesses.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and manage junior staff and analysts, providing guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Sales Referral Sources - Continue building a personal network of referral sources from which to eventually earn sales referrals across the lending, legal, and private equity industries. Attend local industry and restructuring/turnaround events, and reach out to potential contacts, to broaden personal network. Begin sourcing sales referrals for new engagements.
- Sales & Business Development: Actively participate in the business development process, including preparing pitch materials, presentations, and proposals. Engage in sales calls and interviews to secure new clients and expand firm opportunities.
- Hands-on experience in or supporting interim executive roles, particularly as an Interim CFO, in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, and services, is preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex financial situations, including leading financial strategy, operations, and financial reporting during periods of distress, operational restructuring, or financial transition.
- Practice Development: Drive practice growth by identifying opportunities for service expansion and developing internal capabilities to enhance client offerings.
- Advisor Relationships: Build strong advisor/consultative relationships with C-suite executives, lenders, and other key decision-makers to ensure alignment on strategic goals and facilitate smooth execution of turnaround plans.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required; an advanced degree (MBA, MS in Finance) is highly preferred.
- Professional Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in turnaround consulting, investment banking, workouts, distressed asset management, or management consulting. Strong track record of successfully managing restructuring or turnaround projects in distressed situations.
- Financial Modeling Expertise: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and the ability to build clean-sheet financial models (13-week cash flow, three-statement projections). Deep understanding of financial structures in distressed situations, including forecasting and liquidity management.
- Operational Insight: Demonstrated operational experience in identifying and implementing improvements across financial and operational functions. Ability to understand and resolve key operational inefficiencies.
- Strategic & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly assess complex financial and operational issues, propose creative solutions, and drive impactful change. A proven track record of turning data into actionable business insights.
- Corporate Finance & Accounting Knowledge: Expert knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, and related terminology, with the ability to apply them to distressed businesses.
- Leadership & People Management: Proven ability to manage teams, foster talent development, and mentor junior staff in a high-performance environment. Strong management skills and the ability to lead diverse teams through challenging projects.
- Client Relationship Management: Extensive experience in managing client relationships, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction in demanding, high-pressure situations.
- Crisis Management & High-Pressure Decision-Making: Comfort and experience in managing crisis situations, maintaining focus, and making critical decisions under pressure. Ability to provide clarity and direction in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Ethics & Integrity: High ethical standards, integrity, and professional judgment, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with legal, regulatory, and professional guidelines.
- Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% as required by client needs and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CFA, CPA are a plus.
- Industry Experience: Specific experience in sectors such as healthcare, energy, manufacturing, education, or retail/consumer products is advantageous, particularly in handling distressed assets and restructuring in those industries.
- Restructuring Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Chapter 11 and other restructuring processes, with a strong focus on turnaround strategies, creditor negotiations, and post-bankruptcy operations.
- Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP systems, financial software tools, and advanced financial analysis platforms that support decision-making in distressed environments.
