Job Description

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Human Resources (HR) team is dedicated to fostering a positive and productive work environment that aligns with the organization's strategic goals. The HR function focuses on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement. The HR team collaborates closely with all levels of the organization to implement effective HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support business objectives and enhance the overall employee experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, US HR Business Partner is an influential leader with strategic thinking abilities who will work closely with the business in the US and globally. The role is based at corporate headquarters in Danbury, CT.

The successful candidate needs to demonstrate a high level of business acumen. S/he must also be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and delivering within a rapidly changing and developing environment. This leader needs to demonstrates exceptional work ethic, judgment, discretion, and practicality.

This role requires a hands-on, problem-solving approach to HR operations while also contributing to strategic HR planning.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to think strategically to develop and implement strategies that meet and exceed company objectives.
  • Partner with the business to design and deliver targeted solutions, including strategic planning, visioning, change management and team building.
  • Provide consultative advice and support to senior leaders and managers to address complex issues impacting the business, including mitigating risk and managing situations that result in the best possible outcomes for the company and its people.
  • Capable of building trust-based relationships with the business leaders, people managers, and individual contributors.
  • Assess talent across the organization. Proactively attract and develop top talent.
  • Manages the US recruitment function.
  • Responsible for building organizations that support organizational design and workplace planning.
  • Support business leaders in difficult decision making and serve as a sounding board and confidant.
  • Own HR processes including engagement survey, performance management, succession planning and annual merit cycle.
  • Develop people-oriented programs to positively impact management development.


Talent Workforce Management:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless candidate and new hire experience.
  • Develop and implement talent retention strategies to enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Leverage data analytics to support talent strategies.
  • Support leadership in workforce planning initiatives.


Employee Relations Performance Management:

  • Oversee the annual BC Performance Management and Talent/Succession Planning Processes, including coaching managers on effective feedback and development plans.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, addressing workplace concerns and providing conflict resolution.
  • Conduct investigations related to employee relations matters and recommend appropriate actions.


Compliance Policy Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with company objectives.


  • Assist with audits, reporting, and risk mitigation strategies.


Compensation

  • In partnership with Head of Total Rewards, support compensation strategy and address compensation issues within assigned client groups.
  • Prepare compensation change letters and follow up administration with payroll and records.


HR Strategy Organizational Development:

  • Collaborate with HR leadership to drive company culture initiatives and enhance employee experience.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within HR operations.
  • Lead HR-related projects and contribute to business strategy discussions.


KEY RELATIONSHIPS

The role will be responsible for collaborating cross-functionally with

  • Senior Management: Collaborate with senior leaders to align HR strategies with business goals.
  • Line Managers: Provide guidance on HR policies, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Employees: Work closely with employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • HR Team: Partner with other HR professionals to develop and implement HR programs and policies.
  • External Consultants: Engage with external experts for specialized HR projects or training programs.
  • Legal Advisors: Consult with legal advisors to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Training and Development Providers: Coordinate with training providers to address the development needs of employees.


These relationships help HR Business Partners effectively support their organizations and drive strategic HR initiatives

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15+ years of increasing levels of responsibility and a proven track record of growth and achievement in HR business.
  • Proven leader in the HR space.
  • BS in HR, Communications, Business preferred.
  • HR Certifications preferred.
  • Is a positive and engaged team player
  • Has a broad generalist background.
  • Has strong background in employee relations, talent management, and compliance.
  • Strong consultation, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communicator; effective and active listener.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment law.
  • Solid working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including but not limited to: organizational design, employee relations, diversity, compensation, benefits, training and performance management.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
