JOB SUMMARY

The Director Wound Center is responsible for the overall leadership, management and administration of the four hospital based wound care centers: including human resource management, fiscal management, patient services and marketing. Works closely with the Medical Directors and the Nursing Department to assure optimal quality of care. Responsible for the business development and for the marketing of the services of the wound care centers. Communicates regularly to the Physicians, Nursing Staff and Office Coordinators about documentation requirements including diagnostic codes and charge codes to ensure reimbursement for services rendered. Recruits physicians to be panel physicians. Ensures that the centers are compliant with regulatory and professional standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
Assures the successful management of the Wound Care Centers. Working with the nurse managers, develops, reviews and implements the policies, procedures and protocols for the Wound Care Centers in concert with national wound care standards.
Leads and manages the staff at the wound care centers including staff development, adherence to NCH Healthcare Systems human resource policies and procedures, performance appraisals, corrective actions, and staffing the centers effectively. Directs the employment engagement initiative of each of the centers.
Develops the budget for each of the centers. Is responsible for managing the finances of the Centers, assuring that expenses are within budget. Works proactively with the staff to control expenses utilizing the lean process.
Works with the Finance Department to maximize revenue -maintaining the list of all insurance plans in which the hospital and the panel physicians participate, assuring that the staff within each of the centers enter charges timely and accurately and obtaining third party payer authorization for services, procedures and supplies, as needed. Monitors reimbursement for services provided. Is familiar with diagnostic codes and documentation requirements. Works with Finance to resolve any coding, reimbursement and revenue issues.
Assures that the Wound Care Centers are compliant with all applicable regulatory and governmental agencies (Joint Commission and CMS) including conducting Performance Improvement projects.
Maintains monthly operational reports to include referrals sources, ancillary referrals, patient satisfaction and adherence to quality indicators.
Ensures that treatment completions and healing outcomes fall within acceptable national standards. Monitors and ensures timely review of clinical charts by appropriate nursing and medical staff. Organizes regularly scheduled quality meetings with medical and nursing staff.
Develops, implements and manages a marketing and business development plan. Ensures that sales calls are made to physicians, extended care facilities, home care agencies and other referral sources. Conducts ongoing interdepartmental and hospital marketing activities. Works with the marketing department to develop marketing materials.
Recruits physicians to be panel physicians. Maintains a positive relationship with these physicians and all physicians who refer to the center.
Develops the strategic plan for each of the Centers. Reports quarterly on the implementation of the plan. Revises the plan yearly.
Leads the patient satisfaction initiative for each of the Center engaging all the staff.
Keeps current with ongoing changes to wound care management and reimbursement.
Is a proactive member of the NCH department director management team; participating in hospital wide activities; and is involved in the community.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in wound care management or related field.
Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
