Job Summary:

The Medical Director of Digital and Data Innovation will lead digital, data, and AI initiatives to implement novel ideas that enhance clinical care. This executive will act as an ambassador of innovation and work collaboratively across Keck Medicine of USC facilities, advancing organizational transformation using cutting-edge digital solutions.

Education Requirements:

" MD or DO degree.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

" Minimum of 4 years of experience as a physician leader with progressive leadership responsibilities.

" Active medical practice within the past 12 months preferred.

" Experience in medical informatics, digital innovation, data, and AI solutions for implementing novel ideas.

" Familiarity with health IT products, trends, and tools.

" Practical experience in health IT systems design, implementation, and optimization.

" Expertise in quality, performance improvement, and outcomes management.

" Leadership experience in organizational change, including EMR system optimization across multi-facility organizations.

" Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

" Strong understanding of clinical workflows and knowledge of Clinical Decision Support applications.

" Cerner/Oracle Health experience preferred.

Key Accountabilities:

" Report directly to the CMIO or CIO and maintain a dotted line to a Keck School of Medicine clinical chair.

" Dedicate 4 days (32 hours) weekly to information services activities and 1 day (8 hours) weekly to clinical or academic duties.

" Act as an ambassador of digital and AI innovations across Keck Medicine of USC facilities.

" Promote ethical standards, teamwork, and cross-departmental collaboration.

" Lead the transformation of clinical care through innovative information and technology solutions.

" Provide training and ongoing education on the effective use of information technology for clinicians.

" Build trusting relationships with physicians, nurses, clinicians, business leaders, and staff.

" Collaboratively lead initiatives, solicit input, and represent the needs of providers, clinicians, and patients.

" Enable continuous education, peer-to-peer support, and promote provider engagement with clinical systems.

" Support other IT leaders and foster collaboration with leadership in hospitals, medical schools, and community practices.

Licenses/Certifications:

" Licensed to practice medicine in California (must obtain within 180 days of hire).

" Board-certified in an ACGME-recognized specialty.

" Board certification in Clinical Informatics or a related degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, MMM, Informatics) preferred.

Communication Expectations:

" Candidates must have excellent communication skills to participate actively in meetings and interact with stakeholders.

Onboarding Requirements:

" USC Medical Enterprise will ensure completion of all onboarding requirements, including pre-employment health appointments, background checks, and HR orientation.
