DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF TALENT, INSTRUCTION, AND CURRICULUM
Director/Assistant Superintendent - Central Office

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Director of Talent, Instruction, and Curriculum serves as the district's chief instructional leader. This role is responsible for advancing curriculum development, strengthening instructional practices, supporting educator growth, and overseeing staff evaluation systems. The Director ensures that district goals align with Connecticut state standards and are reflected in classroom instruction that promotes high student achievement and professional excellence. This position reports directly to the Superintendent and plays a key role in executing the district's mission and strategic priorities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Instructional Leadership
    • Serve as chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC), leading the development and delivery of high-quality professional learning for educators and administrators.
    • Guide the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum across all grade levels and content areas.
    • Conduct and publish regular audits of curriculum to ensure alignment with state standards, district goals, and student performance objectives.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with the Superintendent and district leadership to support system-wide instructional improvement.
    • Foster strong communication and collaboration with school leaders, staff, families, and community partners.
    • Represent Plainfield Public Schools at educational conferences, events, and forums, as designated by the Superintendent.
  • Data-Informed Decision-Making
    • Analyze student achievement data and instructional trends to identify needs and inform improvement strategies.
    • Promote the use of evidence-based practices to support effective teaching and learning.
  • Systems Development & Oversight
    • Develop and manage systems that support instructional goals, staff development, and student success.
    • Lead the ongoing evaluation and refinement of curriculum, instructional programs, and assessment tools.
    • Oversee compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal education regulations.
  • Professional Development & Educator Support
    • Design and implement a cohesive, districtwide professional development strategy for certified staff.
    • Support building leaders in selecting instructional materials and digital learning resources.
    • Provide leadership for key district committees, including PDEC, TLC, and Curriculum teams.
  • Grants & Funding
    • Identify funding opportunities and lead the development, submission, and management of competitive grants that advance district priorities.
    • Manage grant applications for major instructional grants such as Title I, II, III, IV, Perkins, Alliance Grant, PMHP, and Readiness.
  • Ethics & Integrity
    • Maintain high professional and ethical standards.
    • Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of student records and progress reporting systems.
  • Personnel & Human Resources
    • Provide oversight and guidance to the Human Resources Secretary to ensure efficient management of personnel records and HR processes.
    • Support district compliance with Title IX regulations, including coordination of training and response procedures.
    • Assist with employee investigations and personnel matters in accordance with district policies and collective bargaining agreements.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Connecticut Intermediate Administrator Certification (092 or 093).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience focused on curriculum, instruction, or professional development (preferred).
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, lead, and inspire educators across diverse settings.


SALARY
  • Salary for the position will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the candidates.
  • If the position is hired as a Director, salary is defined by the Plainfield Administrative Association's Collective Bargaining Agreement. If the position is hired as an Assistant Superintendent, salary is negotiated with the superintendent.
Range for 2025-2026: $149,693- $175,000
