Description:

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Director of the Office of Learning Technologies to focus on the following objectives: To advance teaching and learning at UAB through the effective use of technology, ensuring that UAB's students and faculty benefit from the latest innovations in academic technology. To participate in the management of and provide direct support for the use of learning technology solutions that enable quality academic experiences and enhance student learning outcomes and student success. To evaluate the office's service portfolio and to provide vision and direction as the University's needs and opportunities change. To partner closely with the other directors and offices within the Provost's Office of Innovative Teaching and Academic Engagement in advancing academic goals and objectives. To provide top-level support and customer service to UAB's schools and colleges and to support, where possible, others who align with the mission of the Provost's office and UAB academic enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as the leader of the Office of Learning Technologies, developing and executing the office vision, operations, and services.
  • Plans, prepares and manages Office of Learning Technology finances.
  • Directs all Human Resources functions including staff selection, evaluation, promotion, disciplinary counseling and termination.
  • Identifies, supports, and organizes UAB's developing suite of online and classroom learning technologies.
  • Partners with faculty and academic leadership to provide support and faculty development in the effective use of learning technologies.
  • Collaborates with UAB IT and others in working with technology vendors on purchases and maintenance contracts.
  • Collaborates with the CTL, UAB IT, and others on the design, installation, and maintenance of audiovisual technologies for classrooms and learning spaces across UAB's campus.
  • Collaborates on the development and implementation of technology standards and operating procedures related to learning technologies.
  • Participates on the leadership team of the Office of Innovative Teaching and Academic Engagement.
  • Works collaboratively with UAB's schools and colleges in supporting their academic missions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


(Annual Salary: $85,600 - $139,100)

Qualifications
Master's degree and five (5) years of related experience required, Doctorate degree preferred in education or other related field. University teaching experience or previous faculty appointment highly desirable. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
