Reports To: Chief Program Officer (CPO)
Supervises: YE Managers

General Functions:
The Director/Sr. Director, Youth Education will provide leadership and vision for CITC's youth education and technology-based learning, Super Fab Lab and entrepreneurial community engagement in partnership with the CPO. The Director/Sr. Director, Youth Education will supervise staff, manage program budgets, ensure the completion of grant and program reports, project future grant funding needs, ensure all program services are delivered successfully, engage with the local community and Cook Inlet Tribes to provide access to the Super Fab Lab, and assess data necessary to ensure continuous improvement and rigorous evaluation. The Director /Sr. Director , Youth Education will partner with all CITC departments to serve youth and work to systemize services across all CITC programs, in addition to being a presence in the community for technology-based educational opportunities and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and supervision for staff.
- Work as part of a cohesive team with other CITC leaders to assure effective communication and accountability.
- Respectfully coordinates CITC's partnership with the Anchorage School District and other educational institutions, remains grounded in CITC's vision and values while working within an external school system.
- Serves as an articulate public spokesperson for CITC programs and as an effective advocate for Alaska Native education, Super Fab Lab networking, radical new learning and entrepreneurship.
- Represent CITC at local, state, and national events.
- Ensure all programs for which position supervises meet state, federal and granting agency goals and objectives.
- Assess quarterly statistics and narratives from programs under supervision, and ensure the necessary procedures are in place to track and collect data to meet organizational needs and grant requirements.
- Ensure all program reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner, and ensure programs are prepared for internal and grant-required audits.
- Track program and department revenue and expenses and coach program staff to manage program budgets.
- Establish and maintain rapport with other internal departments, state, local and national service agencies, state, local and national academic communities, local community employers, and develop partnering opportunities when possible.
- Actively participate in all scheduled CITC meetings and committee meetings, and seek out opportunities for community engagement.
- Research and track participant and community needs and trends.
- Participate in finding and securing funding opportunities.
- Identify staff training needs and ensure program staff receives training on a regular basis.
- Oversee the strategic curricula development in the areas of education, digital badging, Fab Lab and entrepreneurship.
- Regularly examine current educational research, development and trends to introduce current best knowledge and exemplary practices on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and update necessary department policies and procedures.
- Other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Technology, Business or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.
- Five years' equivalent progressive experience, including in a management or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community.
- Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
- Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced/Master's degree and/or professional certifications.
- Previous experience in youth development, tech education and/or entrepreneurship.
- Ten years' equivalent progressive experience, including in a management/supervisory role with increased leadership responsibility. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
