Role: Disaster Recovery Specialist

Pay rate: $70/hr

Length: 12 months

Overview

The Disaster Recovery Specialist will work directly with the Enterprise Resilience Specialist and stakeholders to help drive strategic and tactical implementation of disaster recovery initiatives. This position is focused on building and implementing foundational elements for the nascent program. Situated within the Information Security organization, this role will work closely in a second line of defense /governance capacity with technical and engineering partners as well as stakeholders across the broader enterprise. The nature of the role requires flexibility in being able to context shift between strategic, tactical, and operational work. The ideal individual for this role enjoys working in a dynamic environment, embraces ambiguity, and excels at navigating complex challenges with a proactive, self driven approach.

Project Focus Areas

  • Disaster Recovery Program Vision - Lead the development of a program roadmap to show how DR principles can be programmatically embedded with engineering teams
  • Disaster Recovery Standard - Support documentation of disaster recovery planning requirements for establishing service impact assessments and recovery plans
  • Technical Resilience Posture - Support information gathering and assessment of resilience capabilities for select services
  • Service Owner Control Framework - Support development of service owner attribution and classification for effective DR planning with engineering stakeholders and beyond
  • Resilience Software implementation - Support implementation of a resilience software to help automate and scale planning processes General Areas Responsibility
  • Project Coordination - Manage administrative aspects of initiatives including timelines, communication, and documentation
  • Documentation - Translate complex concepts into actionable standards, procedures, and methodologies
  • Data Collection & Management - Coordinate collocation and organization of data, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness of submission
  • Template Development - Lead creation of customized assessment and plan templates
  • Data Analysis / Quality Assurance - Analyze information collected for consistency in alignment with requirements. Help prepare relevant data for inclusion in plans
  • Plan Development - Support coordination and content development of plans
  • Program Support - Contribute to broader Enterprise Resilience Program where required such as content creation for strategy and documentation of processes.
  • Program Monitoring - Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of business continuity, disaster recovery programs, and implementing enhancements based on lessons learned and feedback from exercises and incidents


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Information Technology preferably in Information Security
  • Proven experience implementing Disaster Recovery governance, Information Technology Disaster Recovery Planning (data backup and recovery), Risk Assessment, Business Impact Analysis, incident response planning and Business Continuity Strategies and Plan Development
  • Proficiency in cloud based collaboration tools such as G-Suite, Slack, Jira, Confluence, and Lucidchart
  • Proficiency in AWS Services, Disaster Recovery Architecture, Backup and Recovery Solutions, High Availability Strategies
  • Proficiency with common risk management tools: ServiceNow, LogicGate, or similar.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for collaborating with stakeholders, conducting training session
