Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has an immediate opening for a Distribution Operations Manager. The primary functions of this position will be to manage the resources of the Distribution Operations Section to provide supervision of the distribution system in compliance with SMECO operational procedures. Ensures the distribution system performs as designed and changes/updates are incorporated into the outage management system configuration, and SCADA. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Distribution System, utilizing Outage Management System (OMS), SCADA and other products available. Provide for the stability of the distribution system by directing construction, maintenance and outage restoration switching and testing activities during normal and emergency conditions. Ensures timely restoration. Develop and maintain up-to-date Distribution Operations Business Processes and related Operational Procedures. Lastly, this position will provide employee training to ensure all DSOs and Sr. DSOs are competent with all Distribution Business Processes and related Operational Procedures.
This position requires a candidate who is self-motivated, understands electrical theory, demonstrates a high work ethic with accuracy and the willingness to review business processes and implement change for improvement. This position also requires the ability to work extended hours, the flexibility to cover rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays to support operations needs for 24 x 7 coverage during blue sky days, storms and any major outage event.
This position requires two years of college or equivalent, with specialized training in electric utility operation and maintenance. Some computer courses preferred.
Candidates are required to have a minimum of five years progressive experience in the operation, construction and maintenance of electric utility systems. SCADA/OMS/CAD & ARCOS experience preferred.
The starting salary range for this position is $103,100 - $138,800. SMECO offers and excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
