The Ohio Turnpike & Infrastructure Commission is seeking a District Toll Supervisor to work in our Toll Operations Department covering the Eastern District- Exits 180-239.

Examples of Duties
Duties Include:
  • Responsible for supervising all toll plaza operations within the assigned district; assists all districts as needed.
  • Review and recommend staffing levels.
  • Reviews supervisor schedules through the Kronos Telestaff scheduling application and making necessary changes in assignments; reviews all bi-weekly time summaries through Kronos timekeeping application; reviews leave requests, approving or denying leave according to Commission policies.
  • Issues discipline to field employees.
  • Communicates and ensures compliance with issued directives.
  • Tests, interviews and evaluates prospective full-time and part-time employees.
  • Coordinates toll-specific onboarding, training, and new hire orientation.
  • Evaluates job performance of supervisors.
  • Assists in coordination of drug and alcohol testing.
  • Acts as department representative in Step 2 grievances.
  • Mediates and resolves employee conflicts.
  • Investigates customer and employee complaints.
  • Participates in collective bargaining.
  • Approves requests for uniform and equipment orders.
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Toll Operations.

Typical Qualifications
Major Worker Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of toll plaza operations; supervision; employee training and development; dispute resolution.
  • Basic organization and operation of state and local government*.
  • Ohio Turnpike Commission policies and procedures*; labor relations; and contract administration.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Analyze and prepare or edit technical rules, procedures, policies and/or guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and concise reports and records.
  • Handle routine and or sensitive inquiries from and contacts with government and legislative officials, business representatives and/or general public.

Qualified candidates are required to possess the following:
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED with business background (e.g., college courses, seminars and/or business/management exposure).
  • Minimum of five (5) years' toll operations field experience including time in another supervisory position(s).
  • Excellent working knowledge of toll plaza operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Supplemental Information
Unusual Working Conditions:

Must be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must be able to meet the demands of an unpredictable field environment (e.g., responding to emergency situations; driving long distances; being able to lift or move at least 40 pounds).
