Position Summary:

The District Transformation Coach (DTC) is a centrally assigned principal coach position. This role functions as an Equity-focused Transformation Coach who facilitates the school leader's ability to maintain a focus on student learning, while supporting the implementation of a culturally relevant, coherent, standards-based instructional program. DTCs are selected based on experience leading principals through the development and implementation of effective school systems and instructional practices. This individual is responsible for coordinating and supporting district transformation.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of a Theory of Action that identifies strategic school initiatives
  • Support the development of a yearlong Professional Learning Plan that is systematically monitored and adjusted.
  • Participate actively on the District Transformation Team.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to attain dramatic gains in student learning.
  • Share leadership of the continued focus on deep implementation, ongoing monitoring and reflection, and revision of the district theory of action.
  • Collaborate to facilitate the engagement of all stakeholders in district-wide reform effort.
  • Apply research to all strategies and decision-making.
  • Serve as a constructive "critical friend" to teacher leaders and building administrators as they envision, strategize and reflect on the process of whole-school reform to realize academic achievement.
  • Develop expertise in the core curriculum guide and other adopted materials.
  • Work with grade-level and school-wide teams to coordinate standards-based curriculum.
  • Build the capacity of instructional coaches to be a strategic resource to ensure transfer implementation of professional learning into their classrooms.

Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid Michigan Teaching Credential in the appropriate content area as required by state law and board policy
  • Academic coaching experience
  • 5 years of demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MA in Educational Leadership
  • Knowledgeable about Systems and Structures for ongoing continuous improvement, standards-aligned instructional planning and teaching, effective use of assessment, and culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy.
  • Demonstrates skill and experience with utilizing data for continuous instructional improvement
  • Experience in group facilitation and leading professional development
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current research related to school reform, school improvement and educational equity
  • Ability to collaborate with District and school-based administrators and programs
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in written forms
  • Demonstrates leadership skills


Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Contract: 261 Work Days (12 Month Calendar)
