The Dive Operations Manager is responsible for planning and executing California diving projects safely and efficiently, overseeing dive personnel, preparing bids and RFPs (Request for Proposals), and for building and maintaining successful client relationships.
Position Essential Job Functions
- Plan, schedule, and manage all dive projects.
- Coordinate with Logistics and Shop Supervisor for dispatch of diving personnel and dive gear as needed for projects.
- Execute projects in a manner that satisfies client needs and legal requirements, including but not limited to ADCI regulations and state and federal laws on commercial diving.
- Coordinate dive equipment including associated maintenance and certification with the Shop Supervisor.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of EWOWS, associated job paperwork, reports, and video files from the field crew.
- Coordinate with Dive Operations Managers in other regions as needed for personnel needs.
- Supervise the dive staff, assign work activities, set goals, monitor performance, and evaluate results.
- Visit project sites regularly to ensure quality control and safe diving practices.
- Review diver/tender job applicants and assist with selecting personnel for hire.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels to ensure the availability of qualified personnel required to execute the workload.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, prepare responsible bids, proposal requests, and participate in job walks.
- Assist service lines and other regions with proposals and job estimates as needed.
- Write reports, including dive operations plans, correspondence, and client videos.
- Identify and develop opportunities to market services to both new and existing customers.
- Develop contacts with existing customers and maintain successful business relationships.
- Before the mobilization of crews, communicate with all necessary internal stakeholders to ensure groups are kept adequately informed.
- Ensure safe diving operations and participate in the Safety Committee.
- Answer after-hours response calls and dispatch on-call dive teams.
- Assists with supervision of diving projects, as needed (on-call rotation) Oversees in-house training program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Travel:
- Will be required to travel to various project sites for job walks and site assessments. Travel will depend on specific project needs and corporate meeting requirements.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College degree preferred
- Commercial Dive Training, ADCI Certification required
Experience
- 10 + years' experience in a commercial diving role preferred
- 5+ years management or supervisory experience preferred
- Previous experience in logistics preferred
- Previous experience in construction industry preferred
Knowledge/Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to travel to project sites as needed, including the ability to travel out of town for short periods.
- Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, presentations, and proposals.
- Existing knowledge of the region with developed relationships in the maritime industry.
- Current working knowledge of standard dive practices and recognized trade association regulations (ADCI).
- Current knowledge of Federal/State regulations on construction and commercial diving.
- Familiarization with blueprint reading and ship drawings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
- Understanding of project management, cost estimating, cost control, operations, and workforce forecasting.
Physical / Mental Requirements
- Perform work in office and field settings.
- Be available after hours and on weekends as needed.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background screen.
- Valid driver's license, valid auto insurance, clean driving record.
- Perform work in an office setting.
- Perform work in the field, including work on boats and floating barges.
Compensation and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000
- Actual base compensation offered will be determined based on multiple factors, including relevant skills and experience.
