JOB TITLE: Diving Responsible Person
REPORTS TO: The Diving Responsible Person (DRP) reports directly to the Project
Manager for their assigned individual Projects and has a Functional
reporting line to the Diving Operations Authority (DOA).
LOCATION: Regional Territories.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The DRP is an operationally important Staff Role, with the individual being the focal point for
all manned Surface and Saturation Diving in their designated Subsea7 operating Region. The
DRP is the S7 Diving SME and knowledge holder for all Diving processes and operations for all
Diving related activity in that Region.
SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Role
The DRP is to ensure that Subsea7's Group Diving Management System (GDMS) is
adhered to for ALL Diving Operations within their assigned Region, or advise full
compliance when consulting for other Regions. ANY deviations from the GDMS, Subsea7
preferred methodologies or industry good practice is to be managed by the Regional DRP
through the MOTC process with final sign-off coming from the DOA.
They are required to have a good knowledge base and experience to identify the Diving
requirements for local tenders and to advise local management of these requirements,
including the local legislative requirements, internal requirements from the GDMS and
specific requirements from Clients.
They shall understand the benefits and limitations of both Surface oriented Diving
techniques and Saturation Diving techniques in order to suitably advise Local
Management and Tender Teams on the appropriate Diving technique to be used for the
work, taking cognisance of depth, duration, meteorological and tidal considerations of the
site along with the availability of Subsea7 and third party Diving equipment and services.
The DRP shall advise Projects of suitable resources to be used to execute the strategy.
This may include the identification of Diving System Auditors, local site Diving
Representatives, local sources of IMCA Standard Diving equipment, local Diving
Contractors who operate to IMCA standards and may assist in having framework
agreements with these parties in place.
They shall communicate with the Diving Operations Authority (DOA), or other DRPs as
required, on any prospects, Tenders and works in progress to provide input into the
Diving and Equipment functions, allowing for advance planning of the available resources
and identification of any personnel or equipment availability issues.
The DRP shall be responsible for approving the Project Specific Hyperbaric Evacuation
Plans (HEP) and Diving Project Plans (DPP), when applicable. Such approvals will be
based on compliance with the GDMS.
Where any deviation from the GDMS may be required, the DRP will be responsible for
ensuring a Project Specific Risk Assessment (RA)is carried out in accordance with
Subsea7 Hyperbaric Evacuation Policy. If the RA is considered feasible by the DRP, they
will be responsible for obtaining Regional VP and DOA approval to proceed. NOTE: with
DRP endorsement and review, it is the Project's responsibility to substantiate and produce
the deviation request documentation, based on the RA's findings and recommendations.

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE
DRP will work within the organisational structure defined by their Region, as well as
being an integral member of the Diving Group.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Degree qualified or an appropriate engineering qualification is preferred, accompanied by
demonstrable Surface and Saturation Diving operations experience.
Individual should possess an IMCA Recognised Saturation Diving Qualification,
alternatively and based on the Project requirement, an IMCA recognised Air diving
qualification with a minimum eight (8) years' experience is essential.
Must be FULLY conversant with the Subsea7's GDMS and its practical application.
Must be fully conversant with all IMCA requirements pertaining to the work.
Fully conversant with all their Regional and National Diving Regulations pertaining to the
work.
Be physically fit and in possession of a Medical Fitness to work Offshore Certificate.
Hold all Industry recognized Basic Offshore Survival Certification (OPITO).
Preferred training in Project Management and/or demonstrable management skills..
A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in Surface and Saturation Diving operations
and Subsea Engineering.
Should have at least four (4) years recent experience as a Company Representative /
Project Manager / Diving Superintendent.
