Overview:

The Division Controller position is responsible for overseeing all accounting and accounts payable functions for one division and serves as a key partner to division and corporate leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing and supervising all accounting work related to Trumark's NorCal office and review of divisional accounting results and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee divisional accounting department and employees, including accounting function, journal entries, cash accounts and corporate reporting.
  • Excellent management and communication skills.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial reports on the divisional level.
  • Preparing and coordinating month and quarter-end close processes including projections/reports/analysis.
  • Provides analytical support to the management team to improve homebuilding operations and to identify opportunities for margin and return on investment improvement in areas such as revenue strategy, community investment structure, and timing & cost reduction.
  • Business Plan creation, quarterly updates, and semi-annual re-forecast for presentation to Sr. Management.
  • Participating in regular monthly meetings with the Land development team to discuss budget variances and cash flow projections.
  • Reviews of monthly journal entries, monthly Division P&L, and variance analysis
  • Process and oversee ACH set-up and payments for suppliers that enroll in electronic funds transfer (EFT).
  • Partners with Operations by supporting required for operational reviews and land acquisition.
  • Knowledge of NewStar, NewStar Sales, InformXL, or ability to learn new systems.
  • Coordination with divisions on accounting month-end close process and reporting.
  • Review divisional financial statements and monthly reporting packages.
  • Key contributor in annual overhead budgeting process including monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to assist with tracking and strategic analysis by the executive team.
  • Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop best practices.
  • Guides all financial functions and other accounting/operational procedures within the Division.
