Division Director of Perinatal Genetics:
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a Division Director of Perinatal Genetics to lead and oversee genetic counseling services within the department. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Genetic Counselor to shape and expand a multidisciplinary program, ensuring high-quality patient care, education, and research in reproductive genetics.
Position Overview:
The Division Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all genetic counseling services in OB/GYN. This role includes clinical practice, program development, education, and mentorship, as well as fostering collaboration across departments to enhance patient outcomes. The expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate's experience.

Master's degree from a graduate program accredited by the Accreditation Council of Genetic Counseling and/or active board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Genetic Counseling

Strong teaching, mentorship, and research experience preferred
Salary Range: $90,000-$140,000
The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in Departmental variable compensation programs. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance genetic counseling services within OB/GYN
- Oversee clinical operations, ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and adherence to best practices
- Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and administrators to strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships
- Serve as an Instructor in the Department of OB/GYN and actively participate in the UM SOM Master's in Genetic Counseling program
- Supervise and mentor genetic counseling trainees, as well as medical students, residents, and fellows
- Lead educational initiatives and contribute to curriculum development in genetic counseling
- Collaborate with faculty on research projects to advance knowledge in genetic counseling and prenatal genetics
- Provide comprehensive prenatal and preconception genetic counseling to patients and their families
