In this position...

Ford Underbody Systems Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to supervise a team of Core Engineers delivering the needed requirements, strategy, and problem-solving methods for the Global Driveline Organization. Deliverables include leading all Core activities such as requirement ownership and creation, peer reviews of engineering deliverables, Failure Mode Avoidance, Problem solving, Training, and Commodity strategies. Assemblies include Axles (Front & Rear), Driveshafts, Halfshafts, Disconnect Devices, Transfer Cases, and associated components.

This key role within the Ford Driveline Engineering Department requires a dynamic and flexible individual that can handle multiple projects in different phases, to support key quality, cost, and throughput objectives for the Global Driveline Organization.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Manage team of 8-10 engineers, owning the subject matter experts for all Driveline parts.
  • Key technical hardware oversight of the Driveline system, including close interface with the calibration, Transmission, NVH, and chassis organizations.
  • Close interface with our supply base engineering teams on key strategic initiatives on quality, cost, and innovation.
  • Manage resolution of difficult Driveline program issues, where core engineering expertise is needed.
  • You will interact with both the Architecture and Application Engineering teams to ensure requirements are met, proper validation is conducted, and Driveline commodity strategies are adhered to.

Oversight on department quality and cost is also required, ensuring we understand leading indicators that could disrupt our year-end deliverables.

Qualifications

You'll have...

Minimum
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge.
    • Other Underbody commodity experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of experience with plant, manufacturing, launch experience, tooling knowledge, experience in all phases of product development

Preferred
  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge
  • Experience with GPDS and other Ford engineering tools (Teamcenter, WERS, FEDE, etc.)
  • Experience in a leadership capacity leading and guiding others
  • One Ford Behavior, ability to work cross-functionally, build team consensus
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
