Description

IFC - a member of the World Bank Group - is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities. Our mission is to leverage the power of the private sector to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet.

IFC is deeply committed to advancing gender equality and economic inclusion as laid out in IFC's 2030 Roadmap for Gender and Inclusion to deliver game-changing private sector partnerships and programs to accelerate gender equality and inclusion in emerging markets. Aligned with the new World Bank Group (WBG) Gender Strategy (2024-30): Accelerate Gender Equality to End Poverty on a Livable Planet, IFC's Roadmap is built on six areas offering high potential for impact in and through the private sector. These priorities are: i) Capital to Drive Inclusion; ii) Inclusive Supply Chains; iii) Inclusive Employment and Leadership. Equally important are three cross-cutting themes that are foundational to achieving sustainable results across the priority areas; iv) Action for Digital Empowerment; v) Equitable Climate Action, and vi) Action to Address Gender-based Violence.

IFC's Cross-Cutting Vice Presidency includes a dedicated team, the Gender and Economic Inclusion (GEI) Department (GEID), that works with IFC's investment and advisory teams to support private and public sector clients in providing all genders and underserved communities with equal economic opportunities as leaders, employees, entrepreneurs, consumers, and community members. GEID leads strategy development and implementation for the organization; provides tailored operational solutions and client advice; innovates and incubates novel approaches; serves as a thought leader and disseminator of knowledge on GEI issues; supports mobilization through impact investing and sustainable financing; and forges public and private sector partnerships to create economic opportunities and development for all.

The Gender and Economic Inclusion Department (GEID) is seeking an extended-term consultant to provide data analyses and support data-driven decision making. The consultant will work across the Thought Leadership workstreams, focusing on gender and inclusive business. On the impact side, this will include working with industry and Development Impact (CDI) Department counterparts to ensure reporting on all gender and inclusive business flagged projects, including investments and advisory projects, disaggregated by sex and youth. The consultant will also support creating and enhancing the Private Sector Gender and Inclusion data hub, enabling IFC to leverage insights for strategic decision-making and impact measurement in gender and economic inclusion efforts. On the inclusive business (IB) side, the consultant will help scale up the IFC's inclusion agenda in various areas, including strategy development, research, data analysis, internal capacity building, communications, and knowledge management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As part of the thought leadership team, the Data Analyst will support all aspects of data analytics related to gender equality and inclusive businesses, flagship initiatives, and partnership programs. The data analyst will design data-driven products that provide easily understandable and actionable insights in a user-friendly presentation format. This role will have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
Analyze gender and economic inclusion data, collaborate with IFC departments and external teams, develop data-driven insights, and prepare user-friendly presentations and communication tools.
Collaborate with relevant teams to gather, analyze, and ensure timely and accurate collection of monitoring data for reporting on gender equality and IB indicators for both Investment and Advisory projects.
Support the stocktaking and mapping exercise of existing indicators in collaboration with the CDI department and assist in standardizing and creating new gender and inclusive business-related impact indicators.
Assist in the development and implementation of systems and processes for data collection and monitoring, ensuring data quality and consistency across projects.
Identify and collect internal gender and economic inclusion data for the IFC Gender and Inclusion Data Hub. Establish methodologies and processes for consolidating and sharing this data with the Data Hub specialist.
Provide analytical support to the partnership team for business development, including a review of indicators for donor facilities.
Support the development of a revised inclusive business strategy, involving stakeholder consultations, desk research and data analysis, and the creation of strategy documents.
Lead the transition of the IB flag to operations while also building the capacity of staff through various tools, such as appraisal questionnaires and training materials. Organize outreach and training sessions as needed. Provide input to teams during project development and conduct post-project reviews of IB initiatives to capture best practices.
Identify and research scope for new opportunities for inclusion for underserved groups (e.g., refugees, youth). Conduct literature reviews and preliminary scoping for new research areas. Contribute to research design, data collection, analysis, and report-writing for flagship research initiatives.
Support knowledge management and communication efforts for the GEID. This includes client features, case studies, webinars, event planning and management, and organizing internal and external communities of practice.

Selection Criteria
Bachelor's or Master's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in gender and base of the pyramid inclusion; knowledge of other underserved groups (e.g., youth, refugees) a plus.
