The mandate of the External and Corporate Relations (ECR) Vice Presidency is to strengthen the World Bank Group's (WBG) development impact by increasing public support for, and awareness of, the mission and work of the WBG. ECR manages stakeholder engagement and communications strategies to help deliver financial and political support to the WBG, while enhancing and protecting the reputation of the institution. ECR manages global engagement with key stakeholders, including media, civil society, private sector, donor countries, and multilateral and international organizations; and manages corporate communications, including online and social media; issues and reputational risk management; and employee engagement.
The World Bank's Infrastructure and Digital Transformation Communications team (ECRIN) is part of ECR and supports the Infrastructure Practice Group, which is charged with developing sustainable solutions to help close infrastructure gaps in developing and emerging economies. The Infrastructure and Digital Transformation Vice Presidential Units (VPUs) includes Digital Development; Energy & Extractives; Infrastructure Finance, PPPs & Guarantees; Transport; Urban, Resilience and Land; and Digital Development. ECRIN is looking for a dynamic and experienced communications consultant who will be tasked with working with the digital team to raise the profile of the two Vice Presidencies, both within and outside the WBG, and will provide stakeholder engagement and campaigns support across the ECRIN Communications team.
Duties and Accountabilities:
The Extended Term Consultant (ETC) will have strong experience working in the digital communication environment and a professional background focused on Social Media management, Content Management Systems, multimedia development, and a proven track record of bringing innovation to the execution of digital communication strategies. This person will be part of the ECRIN communications team and reports to the ECRIN Manager, while working closely with the Communications Leads and Business Line Focal Points. The ETC is expected to be based in Washington, DC.
Duties will include:
Support to ECRIN's Digital Strategy for social media, website, and multimedia across three main pillars: Transport, Digital, and Energy; with added support to Social, Urban, and Resilience and numerous Trust Funds (TFs).
Support to the creation and maintenance of websites for across the ECRIN unit and associated Trust Funds on the AEM platform.
Coordination of the development of comprehensive social media packages for major events and launches.
Analyze and report on the performance of social media campaigns and events.
Provision of key analytics and insights across digital and social channels.
Monitor and assess risk and performance across social and online media using advanced analytical tools.
Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of high-level meetings, events, and missions for the Infrastructure and Digital Vice Presidential Units (VPUs).
Support to the development of impact stories, publication pages, multimedia, and social media content carried out by the two VPUs and the Global Departments within their purview.
Develop data visualizations and storytelling products for different Global Departments, ensuring institutional alignment and effective/innovative communication of the narrative and main messages.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the Social Media strategy and digital presence of the Infrastructure Vice President, ensuring alignment with World Bank's brand, key communication objectives, and platform best practices, in coordination with the Digital Strategy Liaison and relevant teams.
Develop digital communications campaigns for flagships publications and events, including email marketing component, social media design and copy, outreach strategies, etc., to showcase new research, thought leadership and impact of flagship knowledge products.
Support and enhance the development and maintenance of global risk monitoring of political and economic trends and developments of relevant development topics in major international news outlets, technical publications, wire services, broadcast, and social media.
Selection Criteria
Master's or bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience or combination of education and experience in a relevant discipline (communications, journalism, international affairs, or other related fields).
Experience with Social Media platforms, including X, Instagram, LinkedIn and others.
Experience with Adobe AEM or similar Content Management Systems (CMSs).
Excellent written communication and experience writing in a clear, concise, and web-friendly style.
Creative and knowledge of graphic design and video editing software will be a plus.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and detail oriented.
Ability to work effectively within a team and collaboratively across units.
Experience working on issues relating to infrastructure and digital transformation will be a plus.
