Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benns Grant Boulevard in Smithfield, the new hospital will provide modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community.

The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 34 Medical/Surgical beds, 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms. Overview

Responsible for the integration of the nursing process to include: coordination/management of patient care; organizing, planning, directing and evaluating of services provided with a core focus on facility and associated departments. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support to the staffing needs for the designated specialty. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support to the staffing needs for the designated speciality area(s). As a Clinical Expert, ensures the provision of clinically competent services by validating staff competency in the provision of a comprehensive range of services/care in accordance with standards of excellence, age-specific and cultural sensitivity established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Performs other duties as assigned.


What you will do

  • Creates and maintains an environment that provides integrated leadership and management of the work environment that produces a service/care delivery team that is efficient, competent, and professional in order to produce outcomes and results that meets and/or exceeds the strategic/ facility/customer service goals of RHS. Demonstrates competency and skills in the proactive identification and follow-through of issues to include resolution.
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures.
  • Define quality metrics by: Assess - Identifying the problem/process. Plan - Measuring success at improving specific areas of patient care. Design - Analyzing the root causes or variation from quality standards. Implement - Improving the process with the evidence. Sustain & Spread - Controlling solutions and sustaining success.
  • Participates in the planning and monitoring of the budget for defined areas to include appropriate resource allocation determination. Assists in the variance review, analysis and action plans based on approved departmental budget.
  • Demonstrates understanding and ability to interpret financial reports and develop action plans that support correction of monthly variances.
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced technical knowledge/clinical competencies in clinical practice as evidenced by the ability to assume a role in the provision of patient care as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to respond quickly and effectively to patient care concerns and needs. Answering patient questions timely. Effectively provides patient/caregiver instruction. Engages in customer service and service recovery activities.
  • Demonstrates Responsibility for Quality/performance Dashboard/Scorecards measurements that indicate progress towards facility and system/corporate goals. Assists in developing and implementing an effective and ongoing program that monitors outcomes, evaluates opportunities for improvement, and improves/integrates processes resulting in world-class patient care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to define employee strengths and opportunities for individual advancement to include development of an action plan to improve performance and outcomes. Engages in the on-boarding initiative by seeking out opportunities to engage new employees so as to reduce turnover.
  • Facilitates the development of work force plans that analyze current and projected personnel requirements, competencies and skill mix that support recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Engages physicians into the governance and administration of the department/facility strategic and operational goals and objectives. Ensures integration of physicians and administration, creating a partnership that achieves service excellence and economic growth. Demonstrates the ability to address physician issues/concerns and follow-through within 72 hours.
  • Participates with the members of RMG/RHS leadership, governing boards, councils, and executive teams in order to assist or provide input and direction in the development of the Business Plans and Strategic initiatives, Goals and Objectives and Evaluation/Integration of Care and Services into and with related RHS Services.
  • Strives continuously to improve unit/facility activities and to improve service and patient care outcomes through the interpretation and maintenance of regulatory and accreditation standards in accordance with national safety standards, standards of excellence and Riverside Code of Conduct.


Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required) and
  • Masters Degree, Nursing (Preferred)


Experience

  • 1 year Recent relevant experience (Required)
  • 1 year Supervisory experience (Required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Licensed as Registered Nurse by state of Virginia or compact state Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) Upon Hire (Preferred)
