The Information Directorate, High Performance Systems Branch (AFRL/RITB), seeks to hire a senior-level, DR-03/04 to act as the Edge Computing Demonstration and Experimentation Technical Lead in Rome, New York. A primary objective of the Air Force Research Laboratory's High Performance Systems Branch (AFRL/RITB) of the Computing and Communication Division within the Information Directorate is to lead the research, development, prototyping and experimentation of edge computing systems to include novel computing architectures and hardware, along with software frameworks and deployment of AI/ML algorithms for C5ISRT applications, especially onboard processing for information fusion.

The Information Directorate, High Performance Systems Branch (AFRL/RITB), seeks to hire a senior-level, DR-03/04 to act as the Edge Computing Demonstration and Experimentation Technical Lead in Rome, New York. A primary objective of the Air Force Research Laboratory's High Performance Systems Branch (AFRL/RITB) of the Computing and Communication Division within the Information Directorate is to lead the research, development, prototyping and experimentation of edge computing systems to include novel computing architectures and hardware, along with software frameworks and deployment of AI/ML algorithms for C5ISRT applications, especially onboard processing for information fusion.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as project manager and science/engineering lead for the rapid prototype, demonstration, and experimentation team.
- Propose and execute applied and advanced research initiatives to facilitate the advancement of computing technology to meet Air Force requirements and align with organizational goals.
- Maintain and establish relationships with internal and external collaborators from Government and industry to advance computing technology development and deliver products. Work with customer base to identify transition pathways and provide input to development team to focus technology development for current and future military needs.
- Incorporate systems engineering practice into efforts to derive customer requirements, identify technology options, structure efforts to meet requirements, minimize risk to transition technology
- Monitor and manage requirements throughout the development life cycle to align with end user needs.
- Execute new and existing acquisitions for both internally and externally funded efforts.
- Serve as part of team of scientists and engineers that design, develop, and deliver government owned edge computing and support environment.
- Travel is a requirement of this position for mission partner outreach and engagement.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship.
- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
- Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution.
- Eligibility: Candidates with 1 year of specialized experience equal to the DR-II, or equivalent in other pay systems, can qualify as a DR-III; candidates with 1 year of specialized experience equal to the DR-III, or equivalent in other pay systems, can qualify for the DR-IV, but may be appointed as a DR-III or DR-IV. Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position that was performed at a level equivalent to the grade directly below the position.
- This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (ETM). The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

- M.S. or Ph.D. desired
- Demonstrated ability to professionally lead technical and diverse teams, develop and maintain relationships, build consensus, and resolve conflicts/problems across a collaborative community to include other government agencies, industry, and academia.
