Job Responsibilities
The person in this position will collaborate with stakeholders on the development and/or revision of College and Career Ready Academic Standards in supporting strengthening and developing academic programs for advanced learners and/or the revision of resources to support instruction and assessment of College and Career Ready Academic Standards in serving students identified for gifted and talented (GT) or other advanced programs. Regularly support Local Education Agencies (LEAs) effectiveness and compliance on the provisions of the Education Accountability Act, State statutes, State Board of Education (SBE) regulations, and requirements that pertain to development/revision of academic standards and alignment of professional learning opportunities, support documents, and program models, especially in the area of advanced programs. Develop and implement professional learning opportunities to improve the capacity of teachers and districts to raise student achievement and strengthen programs for advanced learners. Support districts in updating, revising, and implementing policies, procedures, and practices that will increase equity and access of advanced academic services. Collaborate with stakeholders in collecting and interpreting data that will be used to create a plan to improve and strengthen GT identification and services. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
This position is located in the Office of Assessment and Standards.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A Bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master's degree and five (5) years of successful experience teaching Gifted and Talented (GT) / Advanced Placement (AP) / International Baccalaureate (IB) or advanced programs. Experience with coaching, administration, and professional development facilitation.
Additional Comments
Limited out-of-state travel. Possible substantial in-state travel to provide trainings.
