Job Focus Area:
The classified Education Program Consultant 5-A will report directly to the unclassified Deputy Assistant Superintendent of Educator Talent and Workforce Development and serve as the Certification Director for Educator Talent and Workforce Development. This position will oversee all aspects of educator certification and program management for the Division of Educator Talent and Workforce Development. This includes managing the certification team, ensuring all certification requests are evaluated pursuant to BESE policy, managing stakeholder inquiries relative to certification, and preparing reports as they relate to certification for BESE, the legislature, and other bodies.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate should have knowledge of legislation and policy related to Louisiana Certification, familiarity with technology particularly with TCMS, OnBase, Salesforce, and Google, with the ability to manage a large team.

Approves the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of current and long-range plans, rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies for multiple statewide programs in accordance with federal or state laws and policies.
Approves the design, development, and implementation of innovative educational programs and research projects on the basis of national and state reports, trends, economic conditions, future needs, educational research findings, and state and federal legislative or policy developments.
Recruits, interviews, and recommends approval for hiring personnel and evaluates performance of personnel.
Approves budgetary reports, records, and activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and other regulations, policies, and procedures for budgetary control and authorizes the allocation and expenditure of state, federal, and other funds to eligible recipients for implementation of all programs.
Testifies before state and national legislative committees and state, regional, and national hearings, including the state legislature and State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf of the department/division relative to identified educational issues.
