LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 240 days
POSITION SUMMARY: Support Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in the areas of K-12 Science through consulting assistance, professional development, and resources. Faciltiate and guide teachers as they plan instruction of the TEKS and prepartion for the STAAR assessment. Support any new state intiatives provided by the Texas Education Agency. Support LEAs in the use of the TCMPC platform. In addition, the Specialist will develop online professional development and support the products and resources provided by ESC17.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in the area related to position; Corresponding certification to position and duties
PREFERRED: Master's Degree; STEM Certified
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years experience teaching science in a K-12 school. Preferred knowledge in both Elementary and Secondary science instruction, especially in a STAAR tested grade level
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Preferred: Experience working with and presenting information to adult learners and proficiency with technology applications in the education setting. Required: In depth knowledge of K-12 science TEKS and the ability to make informed decisions regarding staff development in the area of Science
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1-Design, schedule, and conduct professional development; 2-Provide technical assistance to administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders face-to-face, over the phone, and electronically; 3-Stay up to date on current policies and events in education and assessment, especially in the area of science; 4-Provide professional development and technical assistance on curriculum scope and sequence and assessments; 5-Contribute to carrying out the overall program of services provided by Region 17 Education Service Center.

MINIMUM SALARY: $79,369
