Duties * The incumbent is the point of contact for alumni, outside agencies, colleges, and centers on student transcripts. * Assists in the collation, maintenance, safeguarding, release, and utilization of official records of students, former students, and graduates. These records include transcripts, education verifications, background investigations, and diplomas. * Provides information to management concerning the latest trends in student registration, performance, and transcript production. * Writes and edits for departmental website and publications which are revised annually or semi-annually, and used by the military departments, other government agencies, the defense industry, and applicants for all courses. * Incumbent is the office lead for front-line customer service - answering shared telephone line, directing and helping any walk-in customers, and answering the basic inquires, transcript requests, and education verifications. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. * Obtain and maintain Secret clearance. Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as: experience analyzing educational data and assisting customers with inquires such as transcript requests or education verification. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
