Position Description: Job Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate will be assigned to the Environmental Systems Branch within the Spaceflight Systems Division as an Emergency, Environmental, and Consumables Management Systems (EECOM) Flight Controller and/or Instructor within the NASA JSC Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). Within the Environmental branch, the candidate will manage life support, thermal control and Emergency response systems for Artemis and exploration missions including Orion, Gateway, and the Human Lander Systems (HLS). EECOM flight controllers and instructors have the significant and critical role of leading the flight control teams and crew in responding to vehicle emergencies including fire, rapid depressurization and a toxic atmosphere.

Requirements

The Candidate must have:
Knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills
Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and strict adherence to deadlines with the ability to successfully work/negotiate with multiple customers
Team-focus and be able to adapt quickly to a highly collaborative efforts across multiple organizations
Ability to plan, lead, and coordinate a wide range of tasks
Ability to successfully progress through flight controller and instructor certifications or required job duties
Ability to apply technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment
Ability to effectively receive and give feedback while maintaining a positive attitude

Duties include but are not limited to:
After successful completion of training and skill certification, provide real-time operations support - potential shift work (nights and weekends)
Integrate inputs from multiple teams and balance those requests against the priorities of the Artemis Program
Develop ground and on-orbit procedures and operational documentation
Prepare console support products and internal Environmental Systems Group documentation
Support technical meetings
Perform other tasks as assigned
