Duties and responsibilities
- Understands the Safety as a Value principle to drive proper philosophy and culture throughout the organization.
- Responsible for defining EHSQ policies and procedures, implementing and tracking training, and field guides for field use.
- Continuously assess and analyze risks and follow through with implementation.
- Escalate stop work and notify management in the event of any condition that is in danger to health during the course of the project.
- Updates and maintains the required administrative tools in a company guide.
- Stays up to date on developments in legislation and advises the organization on compliance.
- Investigates incidents as necessary to establish timelines, contributing factors, root causes, and associated corrective actions.
- Responsible for managing the EHS training plan and assessing it with procedures and training programs to ensure continuous improvement and to ensure we practice what we preach.
- Sets standards for and ensures safe use, maintenance, inspections, and tracking of personnel training, equipment & tools certifications, material conditions, and PPE.
- Manages EHS&Q metrics tactfully to ensure the performance of lead measures improves while minimizing pressure or optics to the workforce that may drive improper behaviors. This includes near-miss reporting, observation programs, and other metrics to drive healthy behaviors. EBenchmark industry processes and best practices to keep the company involved in industry EHS&Q activities.
- Participate in employee onboarding orientations and performance assessments.
- Report all accidents, occupational illnesses, and emergencies.
- Supports supplier setup and related admin in customer portals, third-party platforms, and internal tracking tools. Must be familiar with TRIR, EMR, and other key insurance and safety-related industry metrics.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of safety leadership of an organization both in the back office and in the field
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or other associated discipline.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as off-the-shelf data management tools.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with others, friendly and personable both in the back office and in the field
- Excellent communicator with back office and field settings.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and overall plan and work independently to drive the plan
- Wind or Renewable Industry experience preferred
