Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for an EHS Manager at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY
The EHS Manager would be responsible for leading the Occupational Safety & Health directives that affect men and women at our Marinette, WI shipyard. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in numerous fabrication shops, as well as vessels on the waterfront of our vast, 37.6 acre production area within a 53.2 acre facility. The successful candidate will support our employees on our waterfront by passionately pursuing innovative and effective safety solutions that focus primarily on employee well being, manufacturing efficiency and environmental awareness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage all facets of local, state and federal regulations pertaining to shipyards and maritime
    environments
  • Effectively manage worker's compensation
  • Manage all aspects of EHS training from reporting, tracking, maintaining, developing, and providing
    training to the account.
  • Effective navigation of the 29CFR 1910 & 1915
  • Support behavioral based safety training program (DuPont Stop)
  • Vessel audits
  • Maintain all OSHA recordkeeping requirements
  • Effectively perform & communicate root cause analysis
  • Manage the company Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco policies
  • OSHA record keeping
  • Create, develop and implement EHS policies, practices and programs
  • Effectively collect, analyze and manage multi-tier KPI data
  • Effective chair multiple committees for EHS functions
  • Manage facility hazardous waste programs
  • Air quality management
  • Waste water management
  • Security management assistance
  • Medical records & HIPAA management / compliance
  • Industrial hygiene program management
  • Risk & threat assessment / management
  • Online indoc / visitor regulations
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Observe and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with
    company safety standards as well as all local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Investigate incidents to identify cause and determine detailed proactive measures to prevent such
    instances in the future.
  • Analyze and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods,
    processes, or materials.
  • Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance of current hygiene programs, such as noise dosimetry surveys, atmospheric monitoring, ventilation surveys, or lead abatement plans.
  • Ensure the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect
    employee health, comfort, or performance.
  • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and participate in the development of materials
    for these presentations.
  • Ensure that company, vendors and employees comply with the Global Harmonization System.
  • Maintain emergency response plans or procedures.
  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or
    first-aid supplies.
  • Collect data samples of various materials for occupational health data collection.
  • The ability to handle minor medical treatment and properly triage complex medical injuries or industrial incidents.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 1 to 5 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates leadership skills that

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A degree of study in Occupational Safety & Health or closely related field of study is strongly
    preferred.
  • 10 years related experience in maritime or manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years Safety Management experience required.
  • HAZWOPER Certification
  • OSHA Maritime 10 hour training preferred
  • ASP/CSP Certification preferred but not required

  • Qualified candidates must be a certified first responder or have the ability to gain certification.
