We are seeking an EHS Manager to join the team in Valdosta, GA

Status of hire: Full time/exempt

Industry: glass container manufacturing

Reports to: VP of Operations

Responsibilities:

The EHS Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Arglass' Environmental Health and Safety department. This position will be responsible for the people assigned to that department as well as collaboration across departments to ensure that business needs are met and that Arglass provides everyone a safe working environment. In addition to those tasks this position will be responsible for:
  • Provide guidance to assigned business units for processes and activities including compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a resource and provide guidance on OSHA reporting and proper classification of workplace incidents.
  • Assist in incident investigation and root cause analysis for EHS incidents at assigned business units.
  • Provide support and guidance in the successful implementation of OSHA Programs and other processes as identified.
  • Coordinate and lead OSHA and EPA inspections.
  • Provide support to business units to drive continuous improvement and strengthen current processes.
  • Conduct periodic onsite reviews and audits of operations for assigned locations to ensure compliance with all EHS standards and procedures, and report to management on corrective action plans.
  • Assists in the development of EHS course materials and conduct training as required.
  • Oversees EHS-related awareness and communications
  • Provides support in the implementation of emergency planning initiatives as well as business continuity, crisis management and pandemic planning.
  • Provide support in change management, hazard identification and EHS strategic planning at assigned business units.
  • Drives and supports a culture focused on safety

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and demanding position.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and concisely present actionable intelligence.
  • Must be organized and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse steps without assistance.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate in potentially loud environments
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted.
  • Vision: Must be able to make visual recognition of the working environment.
  • Environment: Exposures encountered such as: hazardous materials, loud noise, and extreme heat.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear team members, alarms, mechanical sounds, and sounds of personnel distress
  • Essential physical requirements such as climbing, bending, reaching, standing, stooping or typing.
  • Standing and walking throughout a 12-hour shift.
