Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and ensure the organization's compliance.
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote a safe and environmentally friendly work environment.
- Provide EHS training and education to employees, ensuring they are aware of best practices and safety protocols.
- Identify potential hazards and risks within the workplace and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Lead investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, and incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills to prepare the organization for unexpected incidents.
- Manage programs related to waste disposal, pollution prevention, sustainability, and resource conservation.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address unsafe conditions or practices.
- Collect and analyze EHS data to track performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions for improvement.
- Ensure that suppliers and contractors adhere to EHS standards and compliance requirements.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, as required by government agencies, to demonstrate compliance.
- Manage the EHS department's budget, allocating resources effectively to support EHS initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required, Master's degree desirable.
- 5 years of related experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
- Requires light physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (under 10 lbs.).
- Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods.
- Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment.
