Department Overview
Electric Operations (EO) ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response. Electric Operations Construction Management is responsible for the construction, project and contract management of PG&E's electric distribution overhead and underground facilities.

This role will be part of the Construction Management, Contracts team responsible for empowering Construction Management with strategic insight, efficient contract management, and data-driven decisions to deliver reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.

Position Summary
The Electric Program Manager oversees and directs Construction Management electrical-related projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The incumbent provides oversight, governance, communication, training, reporting as well as overall process and project management for the assigned program. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.

This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Although, we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

1. Minimum: $128,000
2. Midpoint: $173,000
3. Maximum: $218,000

Job Responsibilities
  • Applies depth and breadth of knowledge of Program Management to the most unique and complex problems. Works autonomously to anticipate issues and develop innovative solutions. Demonstrates program leadership with internal & external stakeholders to support company goals. May design and develop new, complex programs.
  • Recognized subject matter expert who may represent PG&E to external agencies on sensitive or complex issues. Partners with Government Relations or other partner organizations in developing messaging and strategy. May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives. May lead initiatives that impact utility or industry developments.
  • Manages all aspects of programs that are cross functional, complex, of broad scope and have a significant financial or political impact on the line of business. Leads development of overall strategy to achieve program goals. Partners with Manager/Director to determine most appropriate and effective program performance metrics. Develops content and format for reports and dashboards. Prepares and presents regular updates to senior management, addressing issues and gaining buy in on solutions.
  • May work with other project or program managers or peers in other departments to understand needs, identify process improvements, and explore creative solutions to achieve financial and productivity goals. Collects, consolidates and analyzes work completion information to determine overall trends. Develops and delivers presentation on program status, risk and corrective measures to leaders of various levels, including executive.
  • Oversees submission of requisitions via the Contract Management Database. Coordinates business unit approvals to ensure timely procurement. Partners with Contract Management department on terms and scope, and cost. Represents Construction Management during all applicable Request for Proposal (RFx) processes with Sourcing. Develops commercial strategies to support all Construction Management contractual needs.
  • Collaborates with Sourcing to ensure operations priorities are captured across key initiatives and negotiations. May manage the process of awarding some program work to outside Suppliers in coordination with Sourcing through the RFx process. Understands contractual agreements, managing risk, and handling disputes with Suppliers.


Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Ten (10) years of total related experience
Desired:
PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
Experience in electric utility maintenance and construction
Experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Contracts, and Logistics
Experience in contract development, administration, negotiation, and contractor performance management
Financial management and budgeting skills and business acumen
Expertise in communication, interpersonal/collaboration influence, and process management
Broad knowledge of strategic planning principles, project management, process improvement best practices, concepts, methods and techniques
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools
Advanced presentation skills to effectively convey complex issues to internal and external parties of various levels
