Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design microprocessor-based electromechanical products from initial design concept to manufacturing release.
  • Develop detailed design plans and specifications based on functional requirements and budget constraints.
  • Develop the project schedule and coordinate the project-related activities of team members (in-house and subcontractors) to ensure that the product development effort progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering & design tools to perform engineering tasks thoroughly & efficiently.
  • Develop test specifications and conduct design verification testing to ensure the design meets the performance requirements imposed by the functional specification.
  • Coordinate and schedule pre-compliance and agency compliance testing, including CE and UL.
  • Provide technical training and support to engineering, manufacturing, and sales personnel.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as requested by Supervisor or Manager


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely assignments.
  • Minimum of ten years experience working in a manufacturing company in product development and design of electronic and/or electro-mechanical microprocessor-based products.
  • Experience designing RS-485, Ethernet, USB, and wireless communications products.
  • Experience designing products with ARM-based microcontrollers. Specific experience designing with the NXP LPC1700 Series 32-Bit Microcontroller and STM32 is highly beneficial.
  • Embedded Software Development using C and C++.
  • Working knowledge of closed-loop control systems using feedback process variables such as airflow, pressure, and temperature.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging electronic-based products and systems.
  • Experience designing products with ultrasonic sensors.
  • Experience with BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, Modbus, Ethernet
  • Experience with the integration of color LCD touch-screen displays into product design.

  • Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook


Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demand(s): Can lift at least 25lbs, sitting and/or stand for reasonable periods of time
  • Visual Demand(s): Ability to look at a computer monitor
  • Hazard(s): Manufacturing environment.
