Electrical Construction Superintendent

The Electrical Superintendent will collaborate closely with teams from Project Management, Infrastructure Engineering, Project Controls, and Procurement departments, from installation through the start of production. This role involves overseeing all on-site electrical construction activities, including scheduling trade contractors, coordinating utility interconnections, managing medium voltage systems, supervising substation installations, and setting up vendor tools. The Electrical Superintendent ensures adherence to electrical plans, specifications, and national/local codes, while also monitoring project schedules and budgets. With a strong focus on electrical systems, this position requires leadership in maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency throughout complex industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed execution plans and schedules for electrical installations, including medium voltage systems and substation construction
• Coordinate and supervise all on-site electrical construction activities, managing electricians, subcontractors, and vendors
• Proactively drive the project schedule, identifying and resolving electrical-specific construction challenges, escalating issues when necessary
• Ensure safety and compliance with state and federal OSHA regulations, and enforce electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E)
• Lead quality control inspections for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and codes (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ANSI)
• Oversee medium voltage installations (5kV-35kV), substation commissioning, and testing, ensuring integration with utility and facility infrastructure
• Track material deliveries (e.g., transformers, switchgear, cabling) and resolve discrepancies to ensure timely availability of critical components

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience as an Electrical Superintendent or in a supervisory role on industrial facility construction, brownfield projects, substation builds, or electrical system upgrades
• Proven expertise in medium voltage systems (5kV-35kV), including installation, testing, maintenance, and substation commissioning
• In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NESC) and local jurisdictional requirements
• Strong supervisory experience, leading diverse teams of electricians and contractors to meet project milestones and quality benchmarks
• Ability to thrive in high-performance, cross-functional teams, working with tight timelines and aggressive goals, especially on complex electrical projects
• Extensive experience with design-build projects, providing constructability feedback during design and execution phases
• Proficient in interpreting construction design documents (e.g., one-line diagrams, schematics) and managing project documentation using tools like Microsoft Office and Primavera P6
