Description:
Restek is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer I or II to join the Engineering, Maintenance and Facilities (EMF) department. This position will be filled as either an Engineer I or II pending the successful candidate's education and experience.
The Electrical Controls Engineer researches, designs, develops, and installs a wide variety of complex systems, apparatus, components, equipment, and machinery. This position works closely with other engineering areas to ensure optimum utilization of equipment. This position provides technical direction to team members in design construction and the operation of complex, state-of-the-art systems. It provides comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practice, and theory, as well as general engineering support for Restek and the EMF Department support initiatives. Available 24 hours a day for problematic troubleshooting situations.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Designs, develops, and implements various aspects of electrical controls systems, equipment, and machinery including related software, drawings, and documentation to support production and manufacturing processes. Help develop preliminary project plans, including functional specifications. Support other groups at Restek in proposing and gaining acceptance of project plans. Support and design and develop hardware and software as appropriate for controls projects. Integrate hardware, software, and IT systems into reliable and robust process systems. Debug hardware and software systems. Make internal customer contacts regarding controls related Engineering Work Requests (EWR), and work with internal customers to develop Project Initiation sheets (PI Sheets). Provide project leadership and management for assigned projects. Communicate status of projects and priorities on a regular basis. Establish and maintain project schedules and costs. Document design and operation of systems clearly and completely. Provide internal customer support for installed systems. Support evaluation and optimization of new and existing process control systems. Support initiatives to reduce process variability and increase manufacturing productivity. Support EMF Department initiatives as a member to establish and maintain department standards. Understand and follow safe handling of materials and equipment according to OSHA and company policy standards. Maintain quality of processes under the domain of the job responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- 2 Year Accredited Electrical Technician School required with at least 2 years of demonstrated electrical controls experience is preferred for a level I. To be considered for a level II, at least 6 years of experience is necessary.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- BS degree is preferred. Studies should emphasize industrial electrical controls.
- Experience designing electrical control systems using schematic diagrams (including ladder logic) and other standard drawings and documentation listed in NFPA 79.
- Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- PE License not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- General familiarity with digital and analog I/O and interfacing to PLC-based and/or PC-based systems.
- Ability to program PLC's using CoDeSys is preferred.
- Perform simple programming with computer languages such as Visual Basic or Visual C# is a plus.
- Knowledge of ASP.NET (MVC Web App) framework.
- Knowledge of EtherCAT and TwinCAT communication protocols is a plus.
- Knowledge of Universal Robotics programming is a plus.
- Strong electromechanical and analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Able to create and maintain engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others.
- Good verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
