The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, analyzes, and implements electrical systems. This role includes electrical power and lighting calculations and design, load evaluations, equipment and distribution system sizing, failure analysis, risk assessment, and system installation. The Electrical Engineer works with project managers and teams to create design documents, including reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and collaborates effectively with internal and external clients.
Duties Include:
- Design, develop, and implement integrated electrical systems from scratch.
- Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, breaker sizing, conduit and wire sizing, voltage drop, and fault current.
- Conduct hazard analysis and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop and document system configurations and design methodologies.
- Create electrical design drawings, installation procedures, and engineering reports.
- Oversee work of Electrical Designers, including drawings such as single-line diagrams, panel schedules, power plans, lighting plans, and installation details. Review design drawings, specifications, and reports for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
- Assist in the evaluation of designs to meet operational and cost-effectiveness goals.
- Support cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on project objectives and timelines.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Research and specify commercially available equipment to meet project requirements for electrical systems.
- Interact with clients to understand project needs and address design issues or changes.
- Help manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely delivery.
- Stay updated with industry trends and provide suggestions to improve design processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EI) license.
- Proficiency in REVIT is required. AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Adobe Suite experience is a plus.
- Certified Project Manager (PMP), Electrician (EC), Registered Electrician (ER), Certified Electrical Specialty Contractor (ES), or Registered Electrical Specialty Contractor (ET) is a plus.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in electrical analysis software, such as EasyPower, SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in lighting analysis software, such as ElumTools, Agi-32 or similar tools
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software platforms.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
- Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, quality-conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
