Leidos is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Work location is College Park, GA
Currently 50% remote
The projects will range over the geographic scope of the eastern service area.
This position must provide the Atlanta, GA En Route Engineering Center assistance in Electrical Engineering design, planning, cost estimating, scheduling, engineering, coordination, contracting, installation, inspection, and acceptance of electrical systems/services as part of the Eastern Service Area (ESA) implementation of a wide variety of En Route programs and projects.

This position must provide the Atlanta, GA En Route Engineering Center assistance in Electrical Engineering design, planning, cost estimating, scheduling, engineering, coordination, contracting, installation, inspection, and acceptance of electrical systems/services as part of the Eastern Service Area (ESA) implementation of a wide variety of En Route programs and projects.
Electrical Engineer Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and design electrical systems for a variety of FAA buildings and structures.
- Assist with the development and review of project engineering documents to support implementation of En Route Group project needs.
- Perform electrical distribution design to include engine generators, uninterruptable power supply (UPS), lighting, and critical power distribution systems (ACEPS and CPDS) for FAA En Route facilities (Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs) and Combined En Route Radar Approach Control (CERAP)
- Perform on-site surveys to develop "to-scale" designs and detailed reports,
- Confer with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve problems with the design or implementation.
- Prepare AutoCAD construction drawings, site-specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates.
- Perform project management related tasks and communication (including safety plans, sequence of work, cutover plans).
- Review and edit the Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, and project risk register to meet Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements.
- Participate in meetings inclusive of the pre-construction meeting and on-site construction meetings with stakeholders to coordinate with other ongoing construction and projects.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate design/construction project activities to meet milestones and deadlines; working directly with stakeholders and contractors.
- Manage and participate in on-site cutovers, testing and restoration of facilities.
- Prepare, maintain, and provide periodic updates of project to team, management, and stakeholders.
- Review contractor design and construction submittals.
- Perform internal design reviews of FAA designed En Route Engineering projects.
- Track and reconcile and coordinate closure of JAI project exceptions.
- Review project deliverables and provide verbal and written communication to the findings.
- Provide and coordinate timely response for project RFIs (Requests for Information) and project related submittals.
- Work independently to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgement in making adaptations and modifications to Engineering designs
Electrical Engineer Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
- Four years of relevant experience in commercial, industrial or government facility replacement and modernization design engineering OR two years of relevant experience with a Masters degree
- Ability to obtain and maintain public trust suitability (To be eligible for the FAA Public Trust you must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder who has resided in the US for the past 3 years)
Electrical Engineer Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Professional Engineer in good standing in the United States
- Prior FAA experience
