Pay Type: Salary / Exempt

Compensation: $70K - $95K

Additional Earnings: May include discretionary bonus

Travel: Frequent travel required (50-75%)

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Safety Director, the Electrical Safety Specialist will have expertise in electrical safety to oversee and implement workplace safety programs, ensure OSHA compliance, and reduce risk in high-voltage and low-voltage environments. They will facilitate site visits, training sessions, and compliance audits, requiring frequent travel (50-75%) to company locations primarily in the South-Central, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic U.S. The Electrical Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety while conducting virtual and in-person audits, employee training, and ensuring adherence to NFPA 70E, OSHA, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Compliance & Regulations:
Ensure compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1910 & 1926), NFPA 70E, NEC, and NESC.
Conduct workplace hazard assessment risk evaluations for electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.
Develop and implement electrical safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash Protection, and PPE requirements.
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and local electrical safety regulations.

2. Training & Education:
Conduct virtual and in-person electrical safety training for employees, including hazard recognition, LOTO procedures, and emergency response.
Develop training materials and lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and hands-on demonstrations (both remotely and onsite when needed).
Ensure employees are properly trained on energized work procedures and PPE use.

3. Inspections & Audits:
Perform remote and onsite safety inspections of job sites, electrical equipment, and installations to identify and correct hazards.
Conduct incident investigations for electrical related injuries or near misses, providing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with OSHA and company policies.

4. Risk Management & Safety Programs:
Develop and implement electrical hazard mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and injuries.
Ensure proper procedures for working with high-voltage and energized equipment are followed.
Evaluate and recommend engineering and administrative controls to enhance electrical safety.

5. Emergency Preparedness & Incident Response:
Establish and oversee emergency response procedures for electrical accidents.
Conduct post-incident reviews and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
Provide first aid and CPR training as needed for electrical-related injuries.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills & Attributes):
Must have one of the following certifications from The Board of Certified Safety Professionals: CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, or STS
Minimum 3-5 years of safety experience in the electrical, construction, or industrial sectors.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety codes, OSHA, and NFPA 70E.
Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate electrical hazards.
Experience with remote safety compliance, virtual audits, and online training tools.
Understanding and usage of ISNetworld, Avetta, Highwire, Veriforce safety consortiums.
Proficiency in conducting audits, accident investigations, and root cause analysis.
Strategic thinker with exceptional decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certificates: Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP), OSHA 30/510, NFPA 70E Certification
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Physical Requirements:

This job involves both indoor and outdoor work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
Lift, carry and/or move up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
Climb ladders, staircases, step stools, stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods.
Bend, stoop, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours.

The employee may occasionally be required to:
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including intense heat/cold, muddy and wet environments.
Perform precision tasks with instruments and fittings.
Communicate verbally and in writing.
