Electronic Resources Librarians support the mission of the Laboratory by ensuring the electronic systems and digital resources of the Research Library are usable, accessible, and discoverable by colleagues across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

System Administration

  • Administer the Research Library's integrated library system, library discovery service, and other library-related technology platforms.


  • Manage and curate the Research Library's intranet presence and subject guide platform.


  • Configure authentication and Single Sign-On services for relevant library digital resources.


  • Facilitate researcher text/data mining and generative AI projects using library content platforms.


Reference Services

  • Respond accurately and promptly to reference questions in a variety of scientific and engineering fields virtually and in person.


  • Participate in Research Library outreach meetings with Laboratory stakeholders.


Data Analysis

  • Harvest and analyze library resource usage reports to identify trends and opportunities for library electronic collection selection.


  • Identify patterns of abnormal or unauthorized usage of Research Library electronic platforms and respond accordingly.


  • Develop and maintain Research Library service metric dashboards.


Collection Management

  • Manage updates and major feature upgrades to standalone library software products.


  • Migrate eBook and electronic resource catalog records into the integrated library system and other relevant platforms.


  • Select and deselect materials for the Research Library collection, ensuring the collection adequately meets the requirements of research staff.


  • Coordinate circulation and material handling workflows managed by the integrated library system.


Position Requirements

  • Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program.


  • Experience working with integrated library system platforms, particularly ExLibris Alma and Springshare products.


  • Familiarity with scientific and technical information research and reference materials.


  • Proven history of effective communication with large groups of colleagues from varied functional backgrounds, particularly in a customer service setting.


  • Ability to lift cartons of materials up to 50 pounds and push heavy rolling carts.


To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract.

The expected hiring range for this position is $73,793.00 - $116,445.42.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
