Position Summary:
This position will work 1/2 day in the school, leading reading intervention groups for students and collaborating with teachers and paraeducators. The other 1/2 of their day will be working in the 21st CCLC afterschool program leading reading intervention and literacy enrichment programs with students and collaborating with staff and families. Occasional evening events.
The employee serves as a teacher leader and specialist in literacy best practices and facilitates professional development related to the classroom and district's instruction and curriculum goals aligned with demonstrated instructional/professional needs. As a leader and specialist, the employee works with the Early Learning Coordinator, Teaching Learning and Professional Development and K-5 classroom teachers and staff by identifying, developing, and implementing curriculum, assessment and instructional strategies designed to improve student learning in literacy. Instructional specialists share in the responsibility for student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student's readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare. The employee leads reading interventions with identified groups of students.

North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Salary:
- Annual Salary Range (2024-2025): $55,988 - $106,155 (193-Day Contract). Initial placement based on education, experience.
- This salary range reflects 1.0 FTE. Actual salary is prorated based on FTE and start date.
- Stipend(s) are pro-rated based on 1.0 FTE and start/end dates of position/assignment.
- As a licensed employee, you are eligible to receive:
- A stipend of $2,500 if certified by NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards).
- A stipend of $3,000 if you hold a PhD or EdD.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess or able to obtain Oregon licensure with an elementary- multiple subjects (for elementary teaching positions).
- Incumbents must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
- Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university, and valid state certification(s) and any required endorsement(s) in the specific content area(s).
- Reading/Literacy EndorsementAdvanced knowledge and skill in teaching emergent literacy skills.
- Advanced skills in assessment and the use of data to inform and support intervention strategies targeted to the needs of individual students. Knowledge and skill in the application of specialized content area assessment instruments and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a teacher leader to include gaining the confidence and support of all members of the professional learning community.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to collaboration and teaming and effectiveness in working within a professional learning community.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and ability to apply that knowledge to the selection and application of curriculum materials and instructional practices. Knowledge and skill in the use and strategies necessary to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Knowledge and skill in culturally responsive teaching and learning.
