JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Principal, Elementary
LOCATION:
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 220 Days
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Elementary School Principal works as the instructional leader of the school under the direction of the Curriculum Director and is responsible for the effective operation of all aspects of the educational program within the school.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Elementary School Principal shall have the following responsibilities and duties:
To exhibit enthusiasm in all areas of leadership.
Identify at risk students for target grade levels by analyzing achievement scores and most recent report cards of students.
Monitor and review student performance every 4.5 weeks through progress reports and student report cards to continually identify students deemed at risk.
Assist teachers in the selection of programs, delivery of instructional strategies, and maintenance of records to meet the needs of at risk students.
Maintain up-to-date files on each identified at risk student.
Provide resource assistance to students at risk of academic failure.
Utilize technology resources to assess, remediate and support the core content areas.
Promote positive parent relations through effective regular communication with parents.
To demonstrate instructional leadership to enhance school effectiveness by improving instruction and augmenting student performance.
To lead the school to an exemplary school/School of Excellence recognition status.
To provide purpose and direction for the school.
To demonstrate cognitive skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach established goals.
To manage group behaviors to achieve consensus.
To enhance the quality of the total school organization.
To organize and delegate to accomplish established goals.
To communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and the community.
To coordinate the effective implementation of instructional and extracurricular activities within the school.
To be responsible for the care and maintenance of the school facilities and equipment.
To be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of professional, service and extra duty personnel assigned to the school.
To provide leadership in the development and implementation of effective school research/techniques and school goals.
To monitor and report student attendance.
To monitor student behavior and make discipline referrals as deemed necessary.
To implement the state and county testing program in accordance with the state and county policies.
To submit state and county reports in a timely fashion.
To maintain professional work habits.
To maintain and upgrade professional skills.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
