PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures that Bangor School Department policies, regulations, and procedures as well as state and federal statues are followed.

Leads in the development and implementation of the School Core Competencies Plan following a comprehensive analysis of achievement, attendance, and citizenship data.

Consults and coordinates with district administrators at the direction of the Superintendent of Schools to maintain consistent administrative practice in the operation of the schools.

Maintains current and thorough knowledge of state and national education initiatives and consults the Superintendent of Schools regarding their impact on the leadership of the school.

Participates in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel, including substitutes and volunteers.

Leads and ensures the development, appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.

Organizes and administers the public relations program for the school in consultation with the Superintendent of Schools.

Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.

Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances including all expenditures.

Supervises the maintenance of required records and all reports required by local, state, and federal agencies.

Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintains student discipline.

Establishes professional relationships with faculty, parents, and community contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the school.

Serves as the McKinney-Vento Coordinator for the Bangor School District.

Coordinates and implements the Bangor School Department's efforts to meet federal and State requirements for affirmative action, Title IX, equity in educational programs, and the elimination of discrimination and sexual harassment.

Maine K-12 Principal Certification required.

Experience preferred.

The Fourteenth Street School is PreK-3 elementary school serving approximately 185 children of Bangor. Fourteenth Street School is one of the five PreK-3 elementary schools in Bangor, and provides a rigorous and well-rounded experience for all children. The administrative team is outstanding, with principals working collaboratively to support one other. The successful candidate needs to be committed to ensuring academic excellence for all students, while also understanding and helping our children meet their social-emotional needs. Individuals with a strong background in elementary school teaching, educational leadership, family outreach, assessment of student learning, data analysis, and effective communication are encouraged to apply.
