JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for development and timely execution of Strategic Sourcing Plans and category strategies for strategic spend across all Nevada Gold Mine operations. Works collaboratively with site-based teams and key stakeholders to align sourcing strategy with mine plans and budgets. Responsible for training, development, and management of regional sourcing team in line with Nevada Gold Mines policies and guidelines. Demonstrate ethical and honest engagement with all internal and external stakeholders. Communicate sourcing strategy and build strong working relationships internally with peers and externally with suppliers. Effectively and efficiently evaluates commercial proposals, analyzes business impacts, and prepares and executes supplier negotiations. Effectively analyzes spend and market data to identify and capture additional value and drive cost savings. Evaluate commercial contract terms to maintain stable supply and mitigate supply and economic risk.

About the Team
Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. The massive mining operation comprises eight mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities and hosts three of Barrick's Tier One assets: Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primarily focused on the management of the central sourcing teams, responsible for the execution of service, material, and capital contracts as well as the development of key relationships both internally and externally.
- Coaches and develops teams to effectively analyze commercial proposals and market intelligence.
- Lead and mobilize the team in identifying and capturing new regional spend strategies to add value and drive cost savings.
- Lead by example. Maintain a high degree of ethics and integrity while committing to deliver results.
- Support team in the supplier relationship management process including but not limited to tracking supplier performance metrics, safety history, supplier nonconformances, and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Develop skills and abilities of direct and indirect reports through ongoing performance measurement and feedback. Provide career guidance and act as a champion and mentor for all resources in supply chain organization.
- Accountable for all sourcing and procurement targets, metrics and key performance indicators for the region.
- Responsible for the implementation of policies to support local companies in coordination with Community Relations. Accountable for the implementation of contracting plans in line with the Social Responsibility strategy and actively participate in promoting better relations with the community and local associations.
- Oversee the rationalization and selection of business partners to optimize Nevada Gold Mines vendor base. Ensure strong working relationships with these vendors are developed and maintained and provide direction to monitor and continually improve suppliers' performance. Review key contracts to protect and advance Nevada Gold Mines interests.
- Implement corporate strategy and assist in the development and implementation of regional strategy for service and capital contracts
- Manage contractor compliance in respect to the contractual obligations of controlling and reporting of progressive cost and schedule
- Acquire services according to the operations requirements, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution and quality condition
- Resolve queries from operations, or others as applicable by providing information on work product and the related contracts
- Ensure team follow organizations sourcing and procurement standard and utilize operating systems approved for contract execution and management
- Deliver project workstreams, carrying out specified project activities within defined time and quality parameters and ensuring adherence to the prescribed project management and permitting methodology
- Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Must have strong strategic sourcing, negotiating, and analytical skills with the ability to teach the central sourcing team.
- Must be able to benchmark commercial proposals, understand and analyze market data, and creatively integrate information into cohesive strategies.
- Experience in teaching teams how to develop and execute high quality RFx.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of directly related Supply Chain experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience are necessary.
- Three (5) years of sourcing experience. Leading and/or executing contract negotiations, strategies, and conflict resolution for OPEX and/or CAPEX with strong understanding of strategic sourcing/category management process.
- Three (3) years of management experience - leading teams and having direct reports.
- Mining industry experience preferred
- Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Projects and Visio.
- Knowledge of enterprise level software packages is necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, accounting, engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
