Description:

Colquitt Regional Medical Center is currently hiring a Physician's Assistant to join our Emergency Room to assume care of specific patients under the direction of on-duty physician. The Midlevel will follow established procedures and practices for patient care. These responsibilities highlight the critical role that Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Providers play in delivering efficient, effective, and compassionate care to patients in the fast-paced and dynamic environment of the emergency department. Their expertise is essential in saving lives and ensuring positive outcomes for individuals in urgent need of medical attention.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting to the emergency department, including taking a detailed medical history, performing physical examinations, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as X-rays, CT scans, and lab work.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses and develop treatment plans for patients with acute and critical conditions.
  • Administer appropriate treatments, medications, and interventions as needed, including suturing wounds, splinting fractures, and providing pain management.
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care for patients. Discuss cases, review test results, and make clinical decisions together to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the triage process to determine the severity of patients' conditions and prioritize care accordingly. Quickly identify patients who require immediate attention and those who can wait for evaluation.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care. Ensure that patients understand their discharge instructions and provide resources for continued support.
  • Advocate for the best interests of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate and timely care while respecting their rights and preferences.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Privacy and Security rules outlined in the HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, treatment plans, and responses to treatment.
  • Stay up-to-date on emergency protocols, including disaster response plans, and participate in drills and training exercises to ensure readiness for mass casualty situations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of care in the emergency department. Review and analyze cases to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with the latest advances in emergency medicine and maintain licensure and certification.
