SUMMARY OF POSITION

The primary purpose of the EMS Engineer is to review, design and coordinate the electrical scope for new and remodeled supermarket stores and to assist in coordinating the construction process related to refrigeration, EMS and store systems. The Electrical Engineer also reviews all changes for stores not under remodel to ensure electrical-related capacity and compatibility items with the current system.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical plans, circuit grouping, equipment selection and specifications and equipment layout.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop designs for electrical requirements for systems.
  • Coordinate electrical design with Energy Management and Store Planning departments, and with Architectural and Engineering teams.
  • Review, report on and support the electrical requirements of new systems and technologies to assure optimal equipment selections with respect to energy, environmental, maintenance and cost issues.
  • Review and prepare electrical bid packages including addendums in support of standard refrigeration, HVAC and EMS specifications to suit the requirements of projects
  • Purchase electrical equipment and sign equipment invoices when required, issue equipment requisitions to the purchasing department for large orders.
  • Coordinate and resolve equipment quality, delivery and installation issues with the project manager, purchasing department, vendors and contractors; determine field installation quality
  • Support sequencing of work and connections, temporary and permanent.
  • Investigate changes in system design and make recommendations
  • Assist with research and evaluate new equipment, vendors, contractors, means and methods for performance, cost and quality.
  • Work with vendors to develop good quality equipment that will satisfy performance and merchandising requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%


REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering
  • 5-7 years' experience with electrical engineering design and installation in a retail setting
  • P.E. required
  • Previous experience with supermarkets
  • Ability to analyze/redline electrical plans and provide solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include direct customer interaction
  • Previous experience with refrigeration systems beneficial
  • AutoCAD experience beneficial (not required)
