Morehouse College Division of Business and Economics (BE) seeks to fill a newly Endowed Chair in Finance in the Department of Business Administration dedicated to addressing health equity, health disparities, or community well-being through innovative teaching and pedagogy, scholarship or creative work, and community engagement. This is an open rank position. Leadership opportunities also exist. This position contributes to the Divisional vision and mission of Purpose-Driven Business, and promoting Entrepreneurial, Business, and Economic solutions to social problems that advance Black communities and the African Diaspora. We invite applications for a full-time position starting in the Fall Semester of 2025.
Required Qualifications
A research-based Ph.D. degree in Finance from a full-time, AACSB-accredited institution. Candidates from non-AACSB accredited institutions and related degrees (i.e. Financial Economics) will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications (i.e. CFA, CFP), strong record of academic productivity in finance scholarship, and effective teaching. Ability to contribute to a team and collaborate with faculty within and across business disciplines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Essential Duties/Responsiblities
Successful candidates should have a successful research portfolio in finance and be prepared to engage with diverse students across a liberal arts curriculum. Morehouse College has a reduced 2/2 teaching load for endowed chairs. Candidates should be able to teach in multiple areas which may include one or more of the following: General Finance, Investments, Asset Management, Real Estate/Real Estate Finance, Financial Institutions, or Social Impact Investing.
The candidate selected for the Endowed Chair in Finance must be willing to examine how factors such as financial transactions and investments, accounting practices, management principles, marketing strategies, macro- or micro-economic forces, or entrepreneurial actions can impact the context shaping health disparities or community well-being.
The position responsibilities will include 1) effective teaching in the classroom, 2) ensuring concentration goals and curricula align with divisional mission and goals, and industry needs, 3) participating in outreach activities with students, external stakeholders, finance, real estate, investment banking professionals and colleagues across the college, 4) assisting with AACSB and SACSCOC accreditation and program assessment in the finance concentration, 5) maintaining a successful record of scholarship and research, 6) involvement in Project ACCLAIM (an UNCF SMIF) and/or the Morehouse Real Estate Institute, and 7) assisting in advising student organizations.
