As a Process Chemical Engineer, you will:
  • Develop new and redline existing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and Interlock Narratives
  • Facilitate and lead improvement projects, maintenance projects, and troubleshooting and startup efforts
  • Assist with Process Hazard Analyses for new and existing processes
  • Troubleshoot process, instrumentation and equipment problems to support manufacturing
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Heat and Material Balances
  • Assist in various calculations for process design (i.e. relief, pump sizing, and heat transfer)
  • Assist in creating cost estimates for new and existing products and / or develop scope of work for capital projects.
  • Provide field support for startup commissioning activities
  • Provide field support for I/O, interlock checkout, and preventive maintenance shutdowns
  • Provide on-call technical support and interact with customers and suppliers on technical issues
  • Write, maintain, and update necessary procedures and assist with training operators when needed


Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 2 years relevant experience
  • Process Flow Diagram development
  • Heat and Material Balance development
  • Experience in Process Chemical Design or supporting manufacturing operations
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagram development (P&ID)
  • Ability to be on-call on occasion (rotating basis)

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Previous Experience with Control Systems, specifically Siemens PCS7
  • Hazard Analysis experience - HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, etc.
  • Experience on major ($1M+) Capital Projects
