Typical duties include (based on experience):
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to design, code, and test new software in a rapid development environment to integrate, deploy, and support large, complex systems.
  • Debug and integrate challenging systems designed in a multi-threaded, distributed application environment, and defining and developing significant features and upgrades to a complex, enterprise System
  • Design, write and deliver Infrastructure as Code software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of the network
  • Build automated DevOps pipelines using tools such as GitLab and Azure DevOps and deploy applications on Kubernetes clusters


Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

*In some situations a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely can be considered.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, and minimum of 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Proficient utilizing modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C++)
  • Current Secret security clearance (active within 2 years)
  • Experience developing RESTful microservices using Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience using various DevSecOps tools and Cloud technologies
  • Experience with software engineering processes, methodologies, and tools


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Hold an active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Strong software architecture, design, and development experience using Java and RESTful services.
  • Experience using DevSecOps tools such as GitLab, GitOps, Bitbucket, CI/CD Pipelines, Docker, Fortify, Sonarqube, Chef/Ansible, Terraform, Nexus
  • Experience with Cloud technologies such as Rancher, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Argo Workflow, Helm, Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, Service Mesh
  • Experience with database design and development processes
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, VMware, Azure and Certification in a cloud technology such as AWS Certification
  • Experience using SQL with RDMBS like Oracle
  • Scripting and other languages (e.g., sh, csh, bash, ksh, make, imake, XML, HTML, CSS, and/or PERL)
  • Development tools and services (e.g., Eclipse, Spring Framework, JBoss, Apache, Tomcat, Maven, Ant and/or automated test tools)
  • User Interface development tools for the JEE stack
