Description:
R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) is currently seeking an Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our Electrical team of dedicated professionals in our Pickering office location.
The Electrical group at Burnside undertakes work for a variety of clients in the private, public, Aboriginal, international and golf sectors. Our group applications include designs for commercial and light industrial buildings (power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications), street & site lighting, subdivisions, transportation hubs, healthcare facilities, pumping stations and electric vehicle charging stations.
The Role
The position will involve carrying out the following tasks:
Assisting with the preparation of detailed design material, electrical single line diagrams, power layouts, lighting layouts and electrical details
Preparation of NMS technical specifications
Design of generator/ATS/load bank/quick connect boxes
Report and memo writing
Building condition assessments
Peer review of drawings/specifications/reports prepared by others
Photometric studies
Preparation of Cost estimates
Meeting with client(s) to determine project requirements and scope of work
Reviewing Shop Drawings and answer contractor's questions
Site visits to review project progress and as built information
Other tasks as assigned.
Professional Knowledge & Qualifications
The following qualifications, experience, and skills are required:
A registered professional engineer in Ontario, or within one year of obtaining their P.Eng. designation in Ontario;
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university;
Knowledge and proficiency in reading and preparing electrical deliverables (single line diagrams, electrical layouts, schematics and wiring diagrams, panel schedules, cable schedules, etc.) for new and upgraded installations;
A good working knowledge of the current Electrical Safety Codes (CEC and OESC) and National and Ontario Building Codes;
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere;
Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and work on several projects concurrently;
High degree of problem solving and decision-making skills;
Knowledge of AutoCAD technology principles and applications; Revit or AutoCAD;
A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Project management experience
AGI32 and/or Visual experience
