Sr. Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution Group

Our West Coast office is hiring for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our PDG group. The ideal candidate must be fluent in power system modeling and demonstrate the ability to perform load flow, short circuit and arc flash analysis. Must understand electrical diagrams and be able to convert one type to another. Must be familiar with Natural Electric Code and IEEE Color books.

Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in electrical engineering and infrastructure design for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
  • Professional Engineer license required ( multi-state preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Extensive advanced proficiency with industrial and power generation design.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, and regulations ( NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA)
  • Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business.
  • Excellent leadership & interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong ablility to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with Power.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications


Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from accredited university or higher

Technical Capabilities:
  • Knowledge of the NEC to properly size and layout electrical distribution equipment and devices
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM or Easypower software, power systems analysis, short-circuit, protective coordination, load flow, arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Understanding one-line, schematic, three-line and wiring diagrams and being able to check the consistency between the drawings. Power protective relaying knowledge and programming experience is a big plus.
  • Properly size motor feeders, motor starters, feeder breakers, MCC, transformers, circuit breakers and panels (120volts through 5kV)
  • Develop detailed motor connection drawings and equipment control stations and develop conduit routing in existing facilities
  • Modify existing conduit routing drawings, installation details
  • Ability to outline the electrical requirements necessary for an electrical construction package, and estimate cost with some supervision
