Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Test Engineer in the Parker Aerospace Division, working in the Qualification Test Laboratory. An engineer in this position uses customized laboratory equipment to perform tests on a variety of Parker products. These products include hydraulic flight-control actuators, hydraulic manifolds, and electro-mechanical aircraft actuators. Testing includes environmental tests (water, humidity, salt fog etc.), performance and structural tests. In this position, you will be trained by a senior test engineer to write procedures, perform tests, analyze data and produce reports per Parker's best practices. These reports will be the basis for which the tested aircraft is certified to be safe to fly.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Author test procedures per customer requirements and per applicable specs to perform structural, environmental and performance tests.

Set up and document qualification tests per existing Qualification Test Procedures. This includes:
  • Work with technicians to verify that the test setup matches the figures shown in the test procedure.
  • Create test data sheets to document the test results, and use Parker's standard forms to document test setups.
  • Conduct test readiness reviews with internal and external customers.
  • Work with outside labs to perform enviornmental tests.
Perform Qualification Testing per existing Qualification Test Procedures. Work with technicians to capture the correct data during each test. Use Paerker's data reduction software to generate data plots. Format and label the plots to show clearly that each test requirement has been met.

Create test reports that summarize the tests performed.

Assist Design Engineers with failure troubleshooting of the tested units when necessary.

Provide test status to program management

Learn Parker's processes and learn how to work within the company.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience related to hydraulics, electro-mechanical actuators, environmental testing or structural testing. Experience using related pieces of instrumentation and collecting data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and changing environment, and multi-tasking effectively.
  • Ability to work well with a team of experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, CAD System experience, programming experience a plus).
  • Experience authoring test procedures and reports, and working with internal and external customers to verify that those reports support all program requirements.
Closing Statement

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: \$84,942.00/annually to \$141,713.00/annually.
