Job Description

ENSCO' Rail designs, develops, and manufactures precision, high-speed, real-time track inspection systems and associated decision-making software packages for the national and international railway market. We are looking for a Product Engineer to assist in improving the data and software quality used by our software products to enable our clients to improved data driven decision making to support their operations.

Responsibilities
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs,
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Business Requirements Document, Use Case Model, and User Interface designs.
  • Produce high quality documentation (user requirements, business and functional specifications) according to standard templates as well as written reports describing IT solutions and/or requirements in a clear and concise style using UML or natural language,
  • Work with a team of Product Managers, QA Testers, and Software Developers to develop test plans, identify/resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Candidate will execute both manual and automated test cases against web and client-based applications to produce high-quality products free of defects.
  • Help troubleshoot issues
  • Other duties as assigned


Export Control and Licensing

This position may involve access to technology or technical data that is controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations and the release of which to a foreign national may require an export license from the U.S. Government.

Qualifications Desired

Masters's or higher in Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Testing/Quality Assurance experience
  • Experience in data project management, including cleaning and preparing data sets.
  • Understanding of data analysis, including manipulating datasets and interpreting findings using a mix of programs/environments, such as Python or MATLAB, and techniques, such as numerical data analysis, classification, change/anomaly detection, time-series, regression, geospatial, and/or social network analysis.
  • Experience with Machine Vision processing technologies
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL and/or SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of web-based programming languages and tools
  • Familiarity with Jira and or Rally Software

Qualifications Required (Skills)

Bachelors in computer science or related field and two years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and support of large-scale, business-centric and process-based applications
  • Experience working with at least the following SDLC methodologies: Waterfall and Agile
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to balance multiple projects and deliveries with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the following tools: Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
